It's more than the Holdo Maneuver which negates all Star Wars conflicts. Now we have this.

Plot holes aside, my main problem with DIsney Star Wars is the poor character arcs.

At this point the only thing that can make me a Star Wars fan again is if they adopt a multiverse strategy. Universe-1 can have Rey the goddess saving the galaxy and Luke the broken hobo.

Universe-2 can move from Return of the Jedi to say, the Timothy Zahn novel series. I'd love to see Grand Admiral Thrawn on the big screen. And you can still have a bad ass female character to show how Woke everyone is with Mara Jade. As badass as she is, Mara Jade still has limitations and flaws as well as an arc of character growth making her 1000 times better than Rey.

Or you could go forward a bit and have Jaina Solo who is very much her father's daughter, so she could have a roguish personality that the fans like.

Now we have this.

"Making it clear to even the dimmest of fans, that if force ghosts exist in the way the Disney sequel trilogy depicts them, than everything that went before is a lie and Star Wars is dead".

:D

I vote for a complete order 66 of Lucasfilm and Disney, starting with Kathleen Kennedy. Wipe them out, all of them!

Really?
I am with you with the poorly fleshed out character arcs but the Force Ghost stuff is pretty minor to me. We had a lot weirder stuff with Force Ghosts in the EU.

As for your two universes: I don't see why they wouldn't be able to combine the two. They used a (as far as we know) deus ex machina to make Rey powerful, I don't see why they couldn't use the same thing to give her a bit of a downer again.
I admit I wasn't a huge fan of Mara Jade (she was OK though) but Thrawn in the movies would be cool!

Ah, the old "everyone who disagrees with me is dumb" pseudo-argument. Par for the course I guess. Sad, because they have enough real arguments that are actually not that bad.

I agree, Doom Cock can be overly condscending and use tribalism to back logical fallacies. If I limited myself to only watching videos where I agreed with 100% of what the people say, I would only watch music videos and the occasional cute animal video.

I heard someone recomend a 51% standard for watching media. I agree in principle, but I need to agree with 66% of a Youtuber to watch his or her material. I need to agree with 80% of something to share it.

Same here. It is really sad that he does that. Otherwise his videos are often pretty good.

Ridicule can be a powerful tool...
  • for entertainment purposes
  • to garner support by discrediting the opposition (obviously you alienate the target, but those people seldom/never switch sides, the focus is on the spectators/undecided)
Of course context matters. When and if it is to be used is highly situationally dependent. However, make no mistake, it works. That is why you see it used across all walks of life, with politics being a primary example. In fact, you have major shows that are built upon it (Bill Maher, Jon Stewart). YouTube content is no different.

Well, some of it is.
But yeah it definitely works, especially when basically preaching to the choir. I just like facts more, and build my own opinion instead someone only telling me their interpretation of the facts and display it as the only viable one.
