Agree about Seven.
"We need another woman!"
"No, no, no, one with bigger boobs!"
"Oh and let's give her one of those silly things to wear, to get the point across."

About Chakotay: it is a shame what they did with the character. He was a good idea but written so poorly. Maybe because everything that would have been his role was already done by Janeway.

Yeah. That is and probably always well be a part of sci-fi. In general it is worse in Star Trek than Star Wars. The very first Star Trek episode had this lady.

That said Star Wars has the most iconic sci-fi fan service of all time...

Natalie Portman was also intended to be seen. To their credit, Star Wars handlers tried to class it up for the prequels but I think there was a cynical marketing ploy in there. I believe Natalie Portman's gazillion costume changes was to appeal to fashion oriented women.

She spent the most screen time in THIS outfit.

Which also left less to the imagination than most of her other outfits, so fan service is still there.

The new Star Wars movies seem to be moving somewhat away from fan service which is fine but I fear by trying remove all the inuendo from Star Wars, the newer movies are losing some fire by making everyone asexual. That's part of the reason the Rose-Finn romance is so universally loathed. There is no spark.

Reused Nightbringer! That one was already done. @Paradoxical Pacifism should unlike that post at once!

I can make discussion on this though. In the Expanded Universe there apparently is a rivalry between Calamari and Bothans that's never very well explained. They are still on the same side, they just tend to gripe about each other a lot.

While I overall like the EU novel Shadows of the Empire (it takes place between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) I thought including the scene where the Bothans died was anticlimatic. The Bothans went from hyper competant spies to mediocre pilots (they died when their ship was shot down).

To my knowledge, Bothans never make an onscreen appearance in any Star Wars movies, only EU material. Bothans look like this.

Despite playing almost a score of different Star Wars RPG games, me and my friends collectively must have made at least 100 character. No one wanted to play a Bothan. Why play a Bothan when you can play a Wookie?

They actually look a lot tougher than I thought them to be. I don't know why but I always pictured them to be a lot smaller.
