Which do you like better, Star Trek or Star Wars?

Let's see who is king!

I have to throw my hand in with Trek on this one. Star Wars used to be my favorite, but I feel it has strayed from science fiction and more into "Everyone is now a magic knight! Lightsabers for everyone!" I miss the days of space battles and having Jedi be a rare thing.

On the other hand, Trek stays the science fiction course with its constant use of "insert tech here". That and I have grown addicted to the SF Debris opinionated reviews. If you haven't seen them, check them out here: SF Debris Opinionated Reviews

Star Wars has always been more of a "Science Fantasy" type of series in contrast to Star Trek's more scientifically driven viewpoint. I'm actually a fan of both series!

As for the Jedi being rare, in the times of the original trilogy the Jedi were extremely rare as a result of the great Jedi purge. It will interesting to see how the new movies tackle the rebuilding of the Jedi order.

The link you provided doesn't seem to work (at least for me).

I adore Star Wars and could talk about it for days on end, but damn, I really had to go with Star Trek. Maybe it was because my first experiences with the Star Wars community were not as welcoming (that has changed much to my joy!) but dunno, Trek just, there is something in that cheesefest that I can never let go of.

I like both as well, but I favor star wars. What kind of negative experiences did you encounter within the Star Wars community?

When I was younger, whenever I mentioned Star Wars people would jump down my throat if I didn't know enough. Like even my own age. It sorta killed the fun for me. Luckily now the area I live in has a healthy older nerd community.
