I stand by the theory that it is not that stormtroopers are weak, it is just that Ewoks are the most terrifying monsters in the Star Wars galaxy.

If you factor in A New Hope that the stormtroopers were trying to let them escape, the stormtroopers really never embarrass themselves before the Ewoks.
