Did you know that George Lucas originally intended to do a remake of Flash Gordon, and it was only when they rejected the proposal that he went on to do his own thing which was Star Wars? Imagine it, if they had made Flash Gordon instead, there would have been no Obi-Wan, Yoda or Qui-Gon Jinn, and no Rogue One team :(

Luckily Mr. Lucas made the better choice :joyful:
And the world is a better place for it!

Seeing this thread has been quite quiet, thought I might try and start a new conversation. What are your favourite pieces of Star Wars music, and what are your favourite non-Star Wars movie soundtracks?

What are your favourite pieces of Star Wars music
Force theme, Dual of Fates, Imperial March

non-Star Wars movie soundtracks?
Jurassic park, Lord of the Rings, Braveheart, Conan the Barbarian, Gladiator, Rocky, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future.

+ a bunch of Disney soundtracks (I admit it)

Some pretty good ones in there, I agree with all of them being great.
I'd like to add the Soundtracks of "TopGun" and "The Rock" to the ones I like. And I _think_ at least one of the Mission Impossible movies (which I do not like) also had some nice music, and so had that awful movie "Battleship" (or was it Pacific Rim? I keep mixing up those two...) and "Twilight: New Moon" (yes, that cheesy movie with actors made of wood, still some good songs on it).
EDIT: Forgot Pirates of the Caribbean!

At the moment I particularly like the Rogue One soundtrack Star Wars wise, and with others I like the Transformers movies music, Gladiator, Dances with Wolves, The Shawshank Redemption and Interstellar. There are loads of other ones I like, but these are my particular favourites at the moment

Star Wars: Duel of the Fates, The Swim to Otoh Gunga, Coruscant City Chase from 2, The Droid Invasion and the Appearance of Darth Maul, Qui-Gon's Funeral (Always play that in my mind whenever a good-aligned character dies), Battle of Kashyyyk from 3, the Rogue One soundtrack and the Star Wars theme from 1, not 4. I've always preferred the quiet, brooding tones that herald the arrival of the Republic Cruiser to the brash, bold Tantive IV vs Devastator theme.

Other: Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones mainly. I also like PC Game Soundtracks, most notably Warcraft 3, Starcraft, Empire Earth and Dragonshard.

Also, while we're talking about Star Wars, any favourite Clone Wars characters? Mine are Duchess Satine, Tarpals and Rish Loo. I imagine @ravagekitteh will say Embo and Marrok ;)

Indiana Jones
Completely forgot to mention that one. Good pick.

As for Clone Wars characters: ....that's hard. I don't particularly like any of them I think. Tarkin doesn't count I guess because he was in ANH? What about Shaak-Ti? I think she was also in at least one movie so probably not...
Rex? I mean: He was in the movies I think but not really an established character? ...wait he wasn't mentioned was he? That was Cody who tried to kill Obi-Wan, I don't remember Rex being anywhere seen...
...
.....
.......I think I liked
- Cad Bane, just because of his coolness
- Satine (Obi-Wan's Mandalorian crush). IMO the character was originally well written at some point and then poorly executed. But she had depth, which is what I liked I guess.

You're right, although my overall favourite character is Kit Fisto I think

Rex was never in the films; he was invented for the Clone Wars TV Show and became a very established character there
