8th Ed. SPOILER - Fate of the lizardman

So basically, we aren't gone, just thrown away in bubbles like some of the elves were.

which actually would be kinda cool for a game mechanic.
Imagine a Slann dicipline where he has a the conscious of another slann with him.

Imagine that when he rolls for spells on a lore of his choice at the beginning of the game, so does the spirit.

Imagine that he may then use his telepathic confabulation to swap spells with that spirit.

That would be workable even with a standard level 2 skink priest. He's got the spirit of a slann with him, working as a level 4 slann that cannot cast spells, but can switch spells with the priest at the beginning of each of each magic phase.

Quite happy that they didn't kill all the Slann. Some being in space allows for them to return!
 
i feel quite sad for kroak, but if we'll have relic priests - and if they have nice fluff and rules - i'll be ok
 
Indeed. I only have one Slann and it's the Kroak model, but if we got relic priests that would be cool. :)
 
All this fear of people that Lizards would be removed in 9th is such major bullshit...
The amount of panic and doomsaying I read in this forum for the last couple of month reached such a redicilous amount I couldn't believe it.
Sometimes you should just stop for a second, take a deep breath and a step back and mb then you see how stupid all that talk was and is

I never for a second believed it, but I can see why people feared it.

Basically, the original rumour, which had some pretty valid sources to back it up, told us we would see an entirely new world of warhammer, and that we would be getting 6 armies.

Now, we have 15 armies now, and even if we combined everything we could (undeads, elves, humans, etc), we would still lose factions.

What people forgot here, was that a complete revamp of the core rules would make it necessary to only start out with a few factions, and then update the other armies ASAP. You likely wont be able to even try adapting 8th edition rules to 9th edition, because they'll likely be so different that it would simply be impossible to do so.

I don't think we should count on being part of the early 9th though. Might go a few months/half a year until we get our army book.
 
While these sources do lead somewhat toward the "Bubble Theory", I still have hopes that the whole world won't be destroyed. It would make absolutely no sense to have every race create these safety bubbles. Our most powerful slann had to off himself in order to save his race. Are we going to assume that every race will or is even capable of doing this? I think not. So unless GW has truly given up, I think the future is still bright for Warhammer.

That being said, here is my theory. I think these bubbles could come back down and wherever they land, they begin to terraform the area. New jungles, new locations, etc.. It could put us more in the center of world events rather than "that distant place across the ocean". Maybe not. I've just decided that I'm going to be positive until proven other wise. I have liked the majority of the new editions and have enjoyed 8th probably most of all.

Also... Has everyone forgotten Y2K? So many were so certain $*it was about to hit the fan and... nothing. Fear is the worst disease that can spread. So let's all just stay positive. Nothing wrong with being cautious, but don't rage quit until there is actually something to rage quit about.

The idea of the bubbles landing somewhere else isn't completely unrealistic, and would explain a few of the races reemerging.

HOW some of the races do this, I don't know. But hey, Lizardmen have been saved, so I don't care.

Maybe SOME of the races figure it out, and other races tags along in their bubbles.

Those different races are forced to co-exist in their shared bubble, and there you pretty much
have your setup for the new factions.

Mostly wondering how Orcs and Goblins are supposed to work this out. They don't really seem intelligent or coordinated enough to pull off neither an alliance nor the whole "bubble"-stunt.

Ogres could be a viable alliance, but considering the Ogres are fighting side by side with Dwarves from the looks of things, that seems highly unlikely. Besides, why would they help those lesser beings? They reaction to gnoblars getting butchered is laughing, I doubt they'd reach out a helping hand to O&G.

Though I am more afraid of GW pulling something out their arse, than them getting axed, truth be told.

I think Grimgor would be smart enough to figure it out. He would hop in and the rest would just do whatever he does. He has never wanted to be a leader, it just ends up that way so I can see the same thing happening in ET.
 
I don't care if the fluff Lizardmen do a 180. What about crunch?
