Can you use bastiladons solar engine(bound spell) on another enemy unit that is not in cc but in line of sight when the bastiladon is in cc?

No.

The Beam of Chotec is a Magic Missile and as such cannot be fired into units engaged in CC or out of CC.

BRB page 31.

and the army book page 49

The Beam of Chotec is a magic missile so you're not able to cast the spell in close combat.. However the Solar Engines still provides it +1 iniative for all friendly cold-blooded units within 6".

Did I write something wrong or did you guys misunderstand me. I wanted to fire the beam at a unit that is not in close combat that I have line of sight to but the bastiladon is fighting with another so can he fire over that group and burn the group behind?

You are misunderstanding us, you aren't allowed to cast magic missiles in close combat when you are in close combat OR at units in close combat

I'll draw a picture.

Your bastiladon is fighting a unit of warriors of chaos.

Ahead of it, in it's line of sight is a Juggernaut units headed towards the combat.

You cannot shoot at the Juggernauts - as the Bastiladon is in combat with the Warriors and The Beam of Chotec is a magic missile.

If the juggernauts were in close combat, you couldn't either, as the bastiladon would still be in close combat with the warriors AND because the juggernauts is in close combat with, let's say, your saurus.

IF the Bastiladon fight with the warriors was to end in your favor you would still not be able to fire on the Juggernauts as they're still in CC.

The situations you can't happens because a Magic missile or direct damage spell cannot be targetted at a unit in close combat.

and (in this case) because a magic missile cannot be cast by a "mage" engaged in close combat - the Bastiladon being your "mage".

Could you tell me where i can find the sentence that direct damage spells cannot be targetted at a unit in close combat?

BRB pg 31, Choosing a Target.

As he said BRB page 31 - there's no distinction in the description of direct damage spells that allow you to cast them into CC, and so the general rules which state you can't cast spells into Close combat - take effect.

I found, hadn't read it good enough i see, i knew it wasn't possible but could find the rule which says: You are not allowed to cast direct damage in close combat! but it's written above!

Dont forget you can cast direct damage out of combat as long as you can see the target. Shame solar engine isnt dd would be more useful

Take note that Engine of the Gods' Burning Alignment *is* Direct Damage. So, Bastiladon cannot use his bound spell while engaged in close combat, but the Stegadon can.
