I'd say MORE SKINKS bust since that seems to be our awnser to everyting and you would like a less prodictable way of taking it down. i'd try one of the following:
- A stegadon with a chief and the warspear might do the trick ( the random movement makes the chargedistance of the hellpit a littlebit unprodictable and you might be able to lure out a nearly inpossible charge) also softening him up with some giant bow fire could help.
- an oldblood(on carnasaur) with the blade of realities. nobody ever takes this item. wich makes it for a pretty unprodictable choice. it cant be that hard to make a skaven fail a LD test on it's own unmodified LD. and a carnosaur is a good way of getting to it fast. and if ti makes it into combat if might even kill it on its own (giving it some luck ofcourse) I've neve tried this one but it could work.
- a T8 core block (with regen) might do the trick.
but really id just use a lot of skink fire and a sally or two.
I've seen more than one game where 12 skinks skirmishers and sallies took out an unprotected hellpit.

Yeah I agree with Lair. Skinks and salamander works wonders against those ratties.
Banner of Eternal Flame on your Temple Guard can do it.
A Saurus character with BBoC and the Potion of Speed can take down a HPA that has already been wounded by skink fire.
Ruby Ring of Ruin on your Slann (assuming you don't already have flaming magic missiles).
