Just had a game last night, it inspired me to write this. I'm not sure if there's a similar thread somewhere on the board though.
Anyway, I had my first game vs dwarfs last night. It was against a friend of mine and it was his first game with them. So I figured, why the hell not go sort of full retard against an army that is known for their heavy usage of artillery?
My army consisted of 2 Skrox units (3 and 4 krox), 2 regular stegadons and 2 ancient, along with a horde templeguard unit, a slann and scar vet BSB. It was in no way inteneded to be competitive, I just wanted to see how bad it would go.
Fair enough, my friend starts. Nothing bad happens. Next turn he one-shots a regular steg with a canon ball. Expected.
I reach his hammer unit with lord with the "little" skrox unit and this is where sh*t is about to hit the fan:
My skrox units get completely smashed, overruned and his hammer unit charges into an ancient steg, kills it in the following round of combat, charges the next ancient steg who just happend to be placed several inches behind it. So I'm now down to two stegs, with one of them already being charged.
Meanwhile my slann (in TG) decides to miscast TWICE with 3 dices. I looked it up and there is something like 7-8% for that happening. And it happened twice in a row. But it didn't stop there, no no, I actually miscasted a third time, however this time he was downgraded to a level 2 wizad. Needless to say I had blown about 15/38 TGs due to miscasts. I then finally get within charge range of his damn GW dwards (core units) which is a horde. With the banner of swiftness I had a total of 9" inches to reach him which meant that I could only fail by rolling snakes eyes or a 1 and a 2. I rolled a 1 and a 2. So I welcomed another round of focused artillery shooting, since they had nothing better to do. When my TG "horde" finally decided to reach the front they were down to 10 models.
I dunno, but that was most likely the most fun game my friend and I have had throughout all our games, because the amount of bad luck we both suffered from the entire game was just plain hilarious.
SO, what are your story/ies?
