AoS Seraphon REPRESENT!! 5 - 0 @ AdeptiCon Tournament.

Did he run flamethrowers on the stegadon? I have had quite a bit of luck with that lately vs skaven, DoK etc.

Interesting he went back to thunderquake after piloting a shadowstrike list the last few times i've seen him play.

I know he did just barely lose his last game at the Goldensprue cup against a Nagash player that obliterated me at my last tournament with a brilliant FEC army. I believe he was running a shadowstrike list then, so maybe he's defaulted back to thunderquake.

haven't gotten a chance to listen to the interview yet, any good stuff in there?

Anyone know any details about his list? Curious to how he used the Stegadon. Was it for th extra movement on his Bastialdon that had a flamerthrower?

I played an FEC list in the finals last weekend. Threw 6 rippers in on 6 crypt horrors, took 4 down. They had an extra 5+ save. And then they all came back the next turn.

I believe that is part of why his list performed so well. He was focused just on scoring with skinks. He didn’t try to get stuck in with anyone and would run skinks away and towards objectives every chance he got. He mentions in his interview that he snuck out wins a few times with summoned skinks to claim objectives. His game against the daughters in the finals was basically him slowly getting tables while building a points lead.

That is why I also prefer a thunderquake with Astrolith on a 2k game. Skinks skinks and more skink!!

Did they Stegadon help with battleshock or was it to support the Basti?

I used 2 basti’s and didnt see what Sam used it for on the stream. They both have actually similar stats, with the bow 4atks instead of 2d6 (avg 7) and in melee 3 attacks, where the stega has -3 rend instead of 1. And also some stomps. While the basti has superior defense. And the stega have a chance to deepstrike better. But both can do nice ranged damages and dish out some punches in the combat.

Not unimportant, the stegadon is much cheaper. If you need to squeeze jn another unit.

This is what I remember:

Allegiance: Seraphon
Slann Starmaster (260)
Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160)
Engine of the Gods (220)
10 x Skinks (60)

4 x Razordons (160)
3 x Skink Handlers (40)
5 x Evocators (200)

Total: 1980 / 2000
Extra Command Points: 1

Can anyone post his list?

I wonder why he used the Evocators.
Sure, they have three wounds each and can do decent damage, but they don't synergize too well with our troops.
He could have played 30 Skinks (twice the wounds and faster) or 10 Saurus Knights (still more wounds and faster) instead, or quite a number of other Seraphon unit combinations.

...I have the feeling I am missing something.
Maybe because of their ability to cause mortal wounds to horde units? Could work against stuff like Gobbos or Skellies.

He said he will switch them out. They didnt pull their weight. My best gues is mortal wounds, and a unit that can take a punch first.

For tournaments like Adepticon, do you typically have to choose the load-out for basti and steg beforehand? (Just wondering cause it's not an option in the GW warscroll builder).

Edit: @IggyStarhost

Yeah if you meet a horde army they can be pretty good I guess, especially if you strike first.
If used against a unit of 40 Skellies that ability will cause, like, 30 wounds or so.
But how likely is it that you will even be in melee combat with anything? Their move is relatively bad, we cannot teleport them, and elite units (Morghasts, Brutes and so on) will probably kick their asses.

...and even with a rerollable 3+ save, if the enemy is Chainrasp or Skeletons and gets some models in range they will still be in trouble.

That being said. Wow. I mean, they are 200 points for five models but I wish Seraphon had a unit like that.

@Furnus
Interesting question, I don't know.

the evocators may not have "pulled their weight" but sometimes a unit out of the blue like that can distract the opponent. I have made prodigious use of the "Distraction Carnifex" in my 40K Tyranids army. (although when its 3 carnifex's lead by old one eye is slightly more than a distraction lol)
