Scum and Villainy on the high seas!

"Bad tidings indeed, our Knight-Marshal was murdered and our witch-doctor jumped ship...

"From what I can see the only leads we have so far as to Craken's murderer are SaurusWarrior's accusations against him yesterday, now proven untrue. I am not sure if this is just coincidence however, so I will not place a vote yet but simply put forward my thoughts to my shipmates' scrutiny."

"I say we call for a vote, other wise we all might end up dead in the end." Lukas looked at every soul there closely.

"We all knew Ronan as a good friend. But there is one person who was friend to both the departed Kroxigor and Ronan. And he came back to his victimns each time. This is probably just coincidence, but, as they say, the criminals return to the scene of the crime.... but not long after, he runs away to the farthest place away he can. What else, then the crows nest. So I, reluctantly, vote that Xlcontiqu is the assassain."

Vote: Xlcontiqu

And for those who question me, the reason I am saying this because Xlcontiqu was close-ish to both Ronan and Kroxigor, but came close then got away as soon as possible each time. I also see little other evidence before me, so I go with the only lead I have.

OOC: This day was meant to finish yesterday, but no one has voted yet. Everyone get all your actions in ASAP and tomorrow, around 20 hours from now, I will wrap this day up.

I am going to take a chance here, I believe SaurusWarrior's suspicion of Xlcontiqu may be correct judging by Xlcontiqu's behavior. Last voting session he voted for Lizardninja on account of not saying much, but wouldn't the assassin be more inclined to talk a lot to try to disguise his marks? So I vote for Xlcontiqu.

Hmm, a valid point. However, being close to the two victims doesn't quite mean he's an assassin, is it not possible, or even probable that he is sulking for the loss of his friends?

I am afraid there is once again too little evidence for me to
condemn someone to death.

Vote: revered guardian

I had only met both of them and you accuse me of killing them. I was close with Revered Guardian at the beginning too, and yet he is fine. I also was not close to Ronan, I voted against him before because of his suspicious motives. And the reason I went to the crow's nest was to mourn and think, not to escape the scene of the crime.

As too voting for lizardninja, I explained my reasons. Perhaps I was a little hasty in my conclusions, but at that time I felt that it was possible that he had killed them.

So I urge you to reconsider. SaurusWarrior too was close to hellbreaker and KroxigorFTW, and did indeed vow to avenge them. He is just as suspicious as I am. Perhaps he knocked KroxigorFTW off. So because he accuses me of being close to people I vote SaurusWarrior.

"In the interests of activity I must again, side with the majority. I also have found Xlcontiqu's actions strange, but could not find anything sinister in them, if it is enough to earn further votes, then I'll side with them."

VOTE:Xlcontiqu

OOC: sorry guys, down sick atm, so I'm not up to a whole lot, had to get my vote in though!

"Xlcontiqu, I may be suspicious to you, but it's not my style of killing to kill someone when they're not paying attention to me. And I definatly would use a giant fishhook as a weapon and then hang the body from the nearest mast. That's why I have my claymore." Lukas said, touching the claymore across his back.

"Then there's the knife in poor Ronan's back. I brought no knifes aboard nor have I been near knifes while on this voyage. The only ones I saw were with Hunted and the one in Ronans back. Those are literally the only ones I've seen."

I carry no daggers, I am a proud Shadow Warrior, skilled with a bow and sword, not daggers. I urge you reconsider, you are losing a valuable crew member and a person whose presence would greatly increase the survival in Lustria.

Then who else would carry daggers? Please, forward a name! If you have nothing, then I'm going to keep my vote the same. But I'm open to suggestions.

Crimsontide may carry daggers. He is as likely as me to carry them. And who knows, maybe you indeed carry daggers yourself.

Yes, but why would I use them? As I have said, my claymore is my weapon. I would not come from behind to stab someone in the back. Tis dishonorable. And besides, my claymore doubles as an excellent meat clever for those tough steaks!

Yet you accuse me of dishonour? I am an High Elf, honour is my life!

"Lads, most people carry a dagger, they're very useful, cutting ropes, as cutlery, any number of uses. My question would be more who doesn't have one now? as it may be the one buried in our companions back..."

Well fellow passengers I have come up with two suspects, both of which are pretty good choices, I think. First you have Dreadgrass...

The Hunted said:
You're not even convinced?

Then how dare you even voting against me? The 'morale of the crew' is playing you apart?
...

If some people aren't even convinced of me being guilty, then why are we doing this again?

Dreadgrass said:
"Can't say as I'm sure on your option there, but I guess I've got to explain myself." Dreadgrass says from his seat, he quiets the marines he sits with, who were angrily murmuring at the suggestion of his guilt.

"I'm signed onto this ship as a marine, if we're attacked by pirates or chaos scum, I'm one of the first across the decks." he hefts his iron bound staff, "Breakin' heads and keeping order is part of the deal, I felt a passengers body, suspended on a hook in the center of the deck was panicing the crew, the thought of being trapped on ship with a potential murderer is quite terrifying for most, so I ordered the removal of the body and got the crew moving again. I've found the best cure for fear and panic is to give them something to do and the threat of a boot in the backside!"

he looks around the assembled men, some scared, some thoughtful, some hard to read. "I thank you, master Craken, for your faith in me, We'll be keeping an eye on y'all" he continued, gesturing to the burly men who make up the ships marines "but keep an extra sharp eye out yerselves, theres really no telling who the killer is till we've got him pinned."

Let's take a look at what words he spoke:
Iron bound staff, breaking heads, suspended on a hook, trapped, murderer, terrifying, removal, fear, panic, sharp, killer, pinned.

Still not convinced?

Dreadgrass said:
"I'd be careful with those Knives friend, you nick a rope or slice a sail, I'll have y' hide to replace 'em..." Dreadgrass stands with a slow and deliberate motion, walks to the rail and carefully taps the ashen remains of his pipes last load over the edge. "Fires a real hazard out here." he explains to those around him "Being careless with your tinder or ash is a flogging offence on the seas, whether your sailor, marine, passenger, knight or noble..." he says it pointedly but in a quiet, matter-of-fact voice that carries to all who are on deck.

With that he re-fills his pipe, and reaches into a pail set beside the rail, within which a slowmatch burns, floating in the water that half-fills the bucket. Re-lighting his pipe he heads back to his place in the shade.

One of the first words he spoke.
Again, all are against me; and back here I was just amusing everybody. And everybody seemed to like it, bar the real murderer.

Dreadgrass said:
Dreadgrass's broad shoulders filled the doorway as he emerged to the deck. Rolling his shoulders and flexing his arms in the manner of men who are accostomed to sleeping in hammocks. Sighting the gathering of passengers he walks over to them, his seasoned feet easily accostomed to the roll of a ship at sea.

Sizing up the excited group of adventurers he wondered who'd be the first to offer their breakfast over the side to the gods of the sea and excessive drink... He had to admit though, that big fella looked formidable. He wondered how much service these lads had seen... "G' Mornin Gents!" he said as he approached, "I'm Lieutenant Raynefield, but the only name you'll here me called is Dreadgrass." he pulls his pipe from his pocket and starts filling it. "I have the honour of being one of the Emperors Marines detailed to this voyage, so if a head needs cracking or some rum needs drinking, I'm your man...! Not that some of you don't look like you could crack'em yourself," he nods to KroxigorFTW, "but if you give me a holler we can keep it settled, all by the book like..."

Crack’em yourself ánd KroxigorFTW and ‘settling it’ in a single sentence. He talks nice, he acts nice. But we all know better than this.

Did I mention Dreadgrass likes to bark orders to everybody on this ship? He seems to enjoy being in command, as the commander would never do anybody harm…or would he?
Let me give you an example:

Dreadgrass said:
Seeing the emminent panic in the crews faces, Dreadgrass steps in, he points to 3 of the crew, "you, you and you, get the poor bugger down and take him below... as for the rest of you lazy Jacks!" he continues sweeping his eyes around the deck, "GET BACK TO WORK! SO HELP ME I WILL PERSONALLY PLANT MY HOBNAILED TOE UP THE BUTTOCKS OF THE NEXT MAN I SEE NOT HARD AT IT!!"

As the sailors headed back to their tasks, their fear of a knife in the dark momentarily forgotten in their fear of the huge marine, he turned to the passengers. "Your pardon gents, couldn't let the panic set in, gotta keep the boys moving or else they'll sit and stew, and believe me, the last thing the captain'll want is a bunch of sailors working their fears into a lather..."

His toe knocked against something and he looked down to see Kroxigor_FTW's spiked mace, picking it up sadly he mutters under his breath "When we find the blighters responsible for your death, I reckon we'll also find a use for this..."

First he orders, then he plays nice. Pretty classy, I have to say.

In fact, the more I think about it, the more I realize that Craken is not the assassin. No, Craken has just a bad friend. I will be changing my vote:

Vote: Dreadgrass

The more you talk, the more you just reveal yourself.

Now, this is usually the time to tell a story. Anyone interested?

The Hunted

You have all of The Hunted's post against Dreadgrass and I think it's pretty convincing. I have also come up with this post of Dreagrass'.

Dreadgrass said:
"hmmm... as we are required to vote..."

VOTE: SAURUS WARRIOR

"Sorry lad, I know you won't be killed and thus, its pretty much a donkey vote, however, I must admit that your flitting about from one person to the next to be more'n a tad suspicious..."

During that day Craken was killed off. This post has both the word killed in it and the word next which means the post before the one above his. And the post above his is Craken's.

The other person who I suspect is Eternity_Warden. He didn't post at ALL the day in which the assassin didn't strike, but the other thing is that the assassin might have targeted The Hunted, thus the assassin didn't strike.

Anyway, I'm following The Hunted's lead.

Vote: Dreadgrass

"Ahh..... Lad.... 'Ye do know that The Hunted was proved to be an assassin?" Whilst this might not exonerate me, that and the fact that your own reasoning for me killing people would require me to be on hand mighty regular in order to speak after my mark every time?"

"I've already explained, I'm a marine, I 'bark orders' as I see fit, comes with the turf." he taps the spent contents of his pipe over the side.

"The Hunted was clutching at straws to save his own hide and we strung him up, I still can't see any sort of real argument to them besides picking aggressive words at random from my speech... well, I'm afraid I 'aint a proper gent like most of you. I'm common born and I've spent my life brawling and at sea, "ye can polish a ship, but you can't polish a seaman!"

Sorry lads, this is a bit late. Damn real life getting in the way.

As a heavy storm brews and rain begins to pelt down on the deck, the votes are counted by the miserable crew.

Xlontiqu: 3 votes
Revered_Guardian: 1 vote
SaurusWarrior: 1 vote
Dreadgrass: 1 vote

There are 7 people left, lizardninja didn't vote but he posted saying he would be away for a week so thats fine. Either way, 4 are needed for a majority, it has not been met. Everyone will have to keep searching for clues and evidence.

The heavy rain makes the crew uneasy for it drowns out noises. The Hunted, master of the elements, had been executed so nobody feared a freak wave or wind throwing them overboard, it was another knife in the back that could come as the ship sails through the night.

Only two people stayed on deck this night, and only one of them would be found still on deck the following morning. SaurusWarrior, it seems, was the one who chose to stay. The others found him in bad shape; an arrow through the back had felled him, no less than 6 knife wounds had finished him off. There was little sign of a struggle.

One of the cabin boys shuddered. 'Lets hope there is only one of these bastards,' he said, 'if there be two, you better string one of them up today or you might not get the chance.' Reality sunk in that the journey was balanced on a knife edge.

Day 6!

The Lybithian - Removed for inactivity
The Hunted - guilty and executed day 3
Craken - Assassinated day 4
Xlcontiqu
hellbreaker - killed by the elements day 2
lizardninja
Eternity_Warden
crimsontide
Revered_Guardian
Dreadgrass
KroxigorsFTW - assassinated day 2
SaurusWarrior - assassinated day 4

Again, 4 days from today puts the finish at saturday. I should be able to get it done if all the votes are in by then, otherwise monday.

Colthan woke up and yawned god that was good then he remembered what had happenend the day before, losing sauruswarrior was tragic. Who would want too endanger everyone.

VOTE: Xlcontiqu

I suspect Xlcontiqu was behind this most recent murder since SaurusWarrior was laying accusations against him. As of now I vote Xlcontiqu unless someone can convince me otherwise.

Before you go accusing me, I would like to direct you to each of the murders. The first was done by fishhook, the second by knives, and the third by bows and knives. I would never use either knives or fishhooks being very unskilled with them. Might I suggest that it is possible that my bow was stolen from my quarters to be used to frame me. And who on board would be able to use such weapons. Why Dreadgrass I say! The self-proclaimed leader of the ship could easily find a way to gain access to my room, and being an experienced sailor, would definitely be able to use fishhooks as a weapon.

So I vote for Dreadgrass.
