im thinking of running a mounted scarvet/oldblood, what kinda bilds work good for them?

scar-vet: enchanted shield gives you the op. to reach -1 armor save so I often use a combo with that and a magical weapond that suts my needs.. In these cases, my scar-vet will mainly be hunting regular units and stay away from potentionally ignore armor units(giants, characters and such).

If you whant a challenge kind of guy, I would probably give him a ward of some kind.
A good combo is bane head and the hornet sword, or if you're fighting heavy armor: burning blade of chotec

When fielding an oldblood, the BoR is just too tempting, so that usually goes in. the rest goes to give him at least some defence...

i lie the sound of the challenger guy, and im regually gona be faceing down nurgel chaos, so i think the BBoC is a must, im think ing with the bane head and a talisman of protetion, does the bame head cut it tho? would i be better of droping it in excange for glyph necklace, or amulet of itzl if im not packing the swoed of the hornet?

Does the glyph necklace or any other magic item give both an old blood and his carnosaur the ward save or just him?

I give my Old Ones the Scimitar of the Sun Replesent (or whatever it's called), giving +2A and the Maining Shield for another +1. I also give him the Carnosaur Pendant, giving him another +1A. That's 9A by himself, not including his mount's. Great for duels or killing block units.

Thats my setup, which is really cool. Just remember, if he is mounted on a carnosaur he won't need the pendant since the carnosaur frenzy extends to him. 9 s5 attacks is brilliant for killing large units.

isnt the pendant on foot only?
just a thought, not at home so dont have book

nope it just says sarus or skink I Run the same set up as them if im on foot on a cold one i run the glyph neck ench sheild carn pen. and venom of firefly frog that gives me a lord with a 5+ ward save and the -1 armor save but i still have 6 attacks with poison !!!!!

how does a carn by its self make a char. riding it frenzey with out the pendent we dont have anything to make them frenzie

question

is the carny still Blood frenzy or is it know just frenzy

cause if it blood frenzy whitch was seperate frmo frenzy in the old book
that would mean with the carny pendant that gives FRENZY would =+2 attacks when you carny kills somthing

No it is just frenzy now, they do not stack with the Pendant

I dislike using the pendant with my oldblood. +1 attack and must charge isn't that good for a model who already has 8 attacks. If I'm using an oldblood on foot, he's usually something like this:

Light armour, maiming shield, revered blade of tzunki. Great vs armoured enemies with alot of cavalry like bretonnia or empire. Also 5xS6+1xS5 (no armour saves) attacks is good vs smaller (and why not bigger) monsters + all types of heroes.

Putting an oldblood on a cold one makes him ofc faster and more effective (don't forget about +2 to AS). Sometimes I use an oldblood like this with an unit of 5 cold one riders:

Light armour, cold-one, enchanted shield, scimitar of the sun resplenent, glyph necklace.

If he mounts a carnosaur, then I usually arm him with a halberd or some other cheap weapon (since he already has 6xS6 attacks + carnosaur) and focus on the defence.

some good idears comeing out, i like the idear turbo lizard with reverd blade and maiming shild, ill have a go and report back

remember to take a look at the blade of realities.... no oldblood should be left without it... a couple of attacks and an enemy general is instantly killed ( or much easier... his low leadershipped mount and monsters)

My Scar-Vet has SotSR then light armour and a shield mounted on a cold one. He gets a total of 6 attacks from the SotSR at WS-5 and S-5. With a little bit of luck, he's a very effective hunter.

With such a large amount of attachs probability states I've gotta hit a few wounds right? :D
