7th Ed. Sauras Spearmen??

Heloo.
does the front rank of spear men get two attackes each? because i have always thought they didn't, and so it would be a waste of points to field them as from them and the second rank you still would have two attacks. im confused. please help and explain

In 6th edit. saurus with spears has 2 attacks in front rank and 1 attack when in 2nd rank. (see predatory fighter rule in ArmyBook pp. 25)

In 7th edition, the predatory rule is supposed gone allthough I cant confirm since I hasn't seen the new book myself. If it's true though, that would give both ranks 2 attacks.

in 7th there is no predatory rule... so the 2nd rank gets 2 attacks

I don't use saurus with spears in 6th, but will probably be using them in 7th. Has to see all the rules first for other units..
You know they'll get cheaper and with a improved armor save

saurus in general will cost less and get a scaly skin save of 5+.

Normaly i never use saurus. But now with the new edition, i really want them. Check out a unit of 6 wide, havind 24 att str 4! Lets see the enemy unit handle that!

Skink skirmishers gotten more expensive now.. for what they did... (scouts gone)
I don't see an army of full skinks now... So we're back of with saurus
No problem for me if all thats been said on the forums is right
But the problem now lies with the loss of the spawnings... no more ItP saurus blocks...
One outnumber of a fear causing enemy (which is more than half of all other GW races)
and wach your battle line run...
Have no solutions in how to make saurus cause fear themselfs or how to make them immune, still have to see the new book
But I guess it would be hard for skelles to win combat vs our saurus, that'll go for alot of other fear causers.. but there are alot of other "elite" troops out there that cause fear too and that can probably run our saurus down with 1 charge (Khorne Chaos cavalery anyone ?

Yeah, but if your going to catch up that khorne cavalry with your saurus than your a poor general. ( or a very sefensured one ) The dudes are frenzied and we have cheap ass skinks moving acros the field. Need i say more?

But yeah i tihnk we will be seeing alot of saury back on the fields, wich i really like. Filling up my core with skinks is still easy, but the lack of scouts does worry me. Ok fine, so use chameleons. The lost there special deployment.. T__T Ah well, currently my goal is going to be this. Slann, engine,engine,saury,templys, and the rest, i will make up as i go

Have something like you Temple Guard handle em with a Slann in the unit. With a Slann, they become Immune to Pyschology AND Stubborn, so they're not going anywhere! Also, for regular Saurus, you could always put someone like Kroak or the other special characters that make units unbreakable, lol.

Problem is that the current WoC lists consist of mainly Marauder horsemen, hounds and Knights (khorne, nurgle and slaanesh) together with some Mages on disk with a lvl4 caster...

Lizardmen always had problem with cav. But no way to divert the khorne knights as the hounds or marauders kill off the skinks and chams... Just one of the khorne unit needs to reach the saurus unit, temple guard or regular and the unit dies within 2-3 rounds of combat. That is without worrying about the devistating Chaos Magic ( whole TG unit W/Slann gone with 1 spell just need to roll an 11 or 12)....

Conserning magic, you can always hope to dispell, but yes: Chaos magic is dangerous.
Second, skinks have no problem of taking out hounds and most of the time fast cavalry as well.
As for chaos blocks, they are best taken out from afar although a unit of spears could do the trick.. Lizardmen shooting and magic should be able to deal with it, but you'll have to manouver well enough..
When it comes to Heavy cavalry, they're just a pain in the .... I say magic is the way to do it.

I fought Warriors this past weekend and smashed them into the dirt leaving only half of a Chaos Warriors of Nurgle is a Herald alive. Terradons' drop rocks, Engine's Burning Ailment (D6 Str 4 with no armor saves? Oh yeah!), and Razordons show all these boys the new meaning of pain. None of my army use Skinks unless I need to rid myself of Core choices.

Also, Saurus are much more durable then you may think. I got charged by 5 DP's with only 10 spear Saurus and I got 12 attacks back. I ended up losing the combat due to a Challenge against my Scar-Veteran that had some bad rolls, but you shouldn't underestimate our blue friends.

my only question is this. sauras spearmen have the option to carry shield with spears. ppl keep me that u can't have both why not? spear are not classified as two handed weapons, so are hand weapon and do they get bonus for comb?

You are correct. You can have a spear with a shield as spears are not double handed weapons. Perhaps they are referring to the additional +1 save from a shield and hand weapon when on foot? Obviously you dont get this with a spear and a shield, just the standard +1 armour save from the shield.

I recently fought WoC. As said before he used mainly cav and heavy magic. I blasted haf his army away in 2 turns by magic and shooting, chams sallies and spirit of the forge worked wonders. All went perfect until 1 unit of khorne knights charged my skinks who were stuck fighting hounds. They overrun right next to my TG block. Next turn he charged my TG block with 2nd gen slann in the unit.. (nowhere to run) In 3-4 rounds of combat the unit was decemated and the slann ran off.. 1 unit of his saw real combat. And that 1 unit saved his game resulting in a draw when it should have been a massacre in my favor.. Understand now why I fear Khorne knights ? Next time the Khorne knights will be my nr1 target. I'll never let something like that happen again. If u wonder where my krox were. They were in battle with a hero on disk... Damn that disk
