8th Ed. Salamander/Razordon' with regrowth

I would argue that because they are ward counters (and if the ward is successful, it saves a wound), that they can be regrown.
 
you cant kill them with spells, so why you would be able to heal them with spells?
 
you can kill them with spells by wounding the salamander and then score a 5 or a 6.

Why are people so focused on them being wound-markers? That was just to show that they are not intended as a part that could be charged or targeted. It does not mean that they are in fact a 5+ ward save.
 
Rammramm makes my point. The ward save represents the handler jumping in front of a wound intended for the salamander. Furthermore, on the monster reaction table, it states (as one reaction) that the monster stands over the fallen body of the handler and becomes unbreakable (not the exact wording). That tells me that the fallen handlers can be revived using the regrowth spell and that they would then 'handle' the salamander again.

Mind giving a page # where they are called a ward save? They are a model, a model that is ignored for MOST (not all) gaming purposes. They are not a ward save, they are not a token that only represents a wound either. They are a model that gets removed when the monster is removed from play, and they cannot interact with other models on their own. This does not turn them into a ward save.

As long as there was one handler left regrowth should work on them. There are no rules for "undoing" a monster reaction test so bringing one back when they are all dead would just give it another bonus save against shooting.

At the end of the day GW really needs to clarify the M&H rules overall, they only get a little sub section in the special rules area where they should have gotten a larger area under monsters (i guess?) in the troop type section of the book. They are updating the Errata/Faq fairly often now so maybe we will see something soon.

Anyway, the rule is not clear at all until it is faq'd. I would agree that if there is one handler left, the others can be regrown (since there is no mention of getting rid of the monster reaction).
 
I agree with Arli's point I will play like that unless my opponent has other ideas and then it will come to rolling a dice :)
Seems I've opened a can of worms but it seems a tricky situation hope GW look in to it.
 
I am not amused that you guys play it that way :rolleyes:. Negating Monster reaction by regrowthing handlers, give me a break.

How can you heal something that havent lost wounds? Since killing handlers wont cause panic test on sallie, they arent lost wounds
 
3 Questions for you:

1. Do the handlers have wounds?

2. Handlers are part of the salamander (and handler) unit?

3. Does it state in the rulebook that once multi wound models are regrown, you can regrow the single wound models in a unit?

There, we are done (until they Faq that particular question).

The only wiggle room you have there is that if there are no handlers left, there are none to regrow from.
 
Or, you regrowth only sallies lost wounds, ignoring handles

p.73 on small rulebook "... We ignore them for most gaming purposes, treating the moster itself as the exent of the unit"

Also, in refenrence section the handlers dont have an unit type


you cant inflict directly wounds on handlers, sallie passes wounds taken on them, if rolls 5+. They cant be directly killed by spells etc., so what makes you think you could heal them with one?

Definatelly needs FAQ, hopefully coming in month or 2.

definetly can be regrowth handlers, becouse the unit wastn destroyed and you can target the unit. the spell says that you heal multiwounds first then single wounds (thus tellings us about mixed units like salamanders).

youhave to be really dum to say that when you resurect handlers salamanders stayunder monster reaction.

iagree that it isnt writen in the brb but its only logical. and yes it needs a faq or something, we are talking aout GW, so the faq is moths away....
 
Well, you must be really dump thiking that you can undo failed monster reaction test. I dont believe even GW gives us such retarted answer when the FAQ comes out
 
like if your dad dies and than some magic happens and he gets back to life you will be still crying because he was dead but not chearing because he is alive again.
 
My dad is ignored in all gaming purposes so I cant regrowth him :D
 
but handlers are ignored only in most gaming purposes soregrothing is that game purpose where theyre not ignored :)
in other words slann with beastwould cast the basic spell giving them +1s and+1t skinks would have S4 becouse theyre a part of the unit. if some one cast a spell where you get -d3I skink would be affected ass well, so you can regrowth your skinks.

this is endless dabate, only magical GW faq may tell the truth.
 
I think Walgis has a good point. If a spell targets the unit and drops a statistic (say drops toughness by -1). That would affect the handlers as well. By the same token, that is how reqrowth would work (as long as there was at least one skink left).
