Blog Salamander Custom Mini - Xlanax_lot's Workshop

Really extraordinary!:wideyed:
Were you the one achieving wet blending effects by layering? Must take millions of layers and hours to paint this way and achieve such results... I couldn't make out layers except on the horns on the standard on his back... and that only by zooming in the picture like mad... ;):p:cool:

Thanks man! I usually use a mixture of both wet blending and layering to achieve the transition effect that I like. Additionally I also used a little glaring to blend everything together

Haha so was just going to take a quick look at your gallery, ended up going through every page just couldn't stop truly amazing work. Great job

Hahah great! Glad you liked it man!

Xlanax_Lot, you are a TRUE inspiration!

I JUST bought a Skaven army a few days ago and have been looking up Google images of Skaven armies, trying to decide on a color scheme that really spoke to me. I thought you'd like to know that your Warlock there was one of the first images that popped up on Google images and stood out so much that it was one of the first ones I clicked on to get a better look!

I have been absolutely drooling over your work! I hope I can get to your level one day! Truly AMAZING!!! :spiderman:

Wow Thanks man I am flattered by all the nice comments, I really appreciate it and I am glad I am able to provide some sort of help!

Have you decided on a color scheme yet? I struggled a lot to decide mine

Well, I have 8 other armies and they are all brightly colored. So I was thinking that I'd go with Black and Brown with mostly Grey / Dark Grey fur. (My Grey Seers with be Grey-White and become whiter the higher their rank, and my Chieftain / Warlords will be Grey-Black, moving toward solid black the higher their rank goes.) I really want them to be an army in the shadows (hence the black), but also dirty (hence the brown).

The Warpstones and eyes, etc. will be my bright spots of color throughout the army. The hardest part will be the black-on-black transitions. It'll be a challenge, but one that I'm looking forward to!

I really like the brown on your Plague Priest. I'm thinking my browns will look something like that and mostly be used on the "rag" portions.

I see a lot of reds and brown fur used on Skaven, so I want to stay away from that. Also, my Dwarves main color scheme is red, so mortal enemies and all that.

That sounds really nice, I really look forward to seeing it finished! post updates
