AoS Ripperdactyl vs Terradon riders

I appreciate the response! I'm unsure of how shooting units get tied up, however. Am I wrong to say that the archers could still shoot whatever they want while in combat (my rulebook is still shipping- should be here today)? It is my understanding that in this game you can shoot into and out of combat. And 40 skinks do send in about 10 wounds every turn in shooting but in melee they dish out like 2. They do seem good to screen off non shooters however as they can keep wary fighter-ing back 8" a turn

They can still shoot but they need Line Of Sight so if you can block their view they can't shoot at anything other than the unit blocking their view.
 
Oh okay so does line of sight have nothing to do with ACTUAL SIGHT? Haha, I think the people I've played with are way lax about that and I learned wrong. They told me if you can SEE the unit in a line from their unit, then it can be shot (like carnosaurs can basically never hide). Sounds like they are hecka wrong.

If they were right, though, skinks are like the tiniest thing on the planet and couldn't block LOS on anything except skinks and bloat toads haha
 
The truth is.... complicated.
Rules as written are crap and you pretty much always have line of sight.

So many people apply some sort of houserule to make the whole thing more sensible. Just like the base to base measurement.
