Blog Rio's Army - 2020

Hey everyone! I thought I would share what I'm doing. I picked up the hobby not too long ago, fell in love with Lizardmen and started to pour a lot of energy into painting them. I don't play--barely know how, but absolutely love assembling and detailing these little dudes.

I went with the colour scheme of my favourite WoW mount - Bone-White Primal Raptor

I started with my skinks, giving them little blobby upperarms as their markings. The skinks were actually my first go into painting my own scheme off path, so there was a lot of trial and error. It took a hot minute to really figure it out, and honestly if I repainted them now, they would look a lot cleaner. My dry brushing game wasn't exactly...um...en pointe. :p

Right! So at this point I had definitely caught the bug and wanted more. The unit that really sold me on Seraphon was the carnosaur, so that's what I went after next in the form of the Start Collecting box.

As I don't play, I find the act of choosing weapons and riders to be a bit of a pickle. I outfitted my skinks with everything except shields because I had previously got gummed up by Stormcast shields and didn't want to face that again (Silly--and a bit lazy!). Now that my hand is a bit more steady and I can see the process better, I'll most likely end up chopping some up to fit shields soon. I would like to do a tribal motif on the shields eventually too, but to me that is some sitting on the character creation screen stuff. Big decisions, haha.

Picking my rider for the carnosaur (whom I've named Lucy) was a debatable subject in my home for a few days, as was longing for a Troglodon too--do I go for points? Looks? I mean, that's really it though, isn't it? As someone with a very low understanding of how the points work, it was all looks for me! Big fan of spears and shout-y lizard fellows, I went with the Old Blood. Here she is looking a bit more, uh, put together than the skinks:

That's it for right now! Doing the head today and the rest of her body. Really wanting these bigger units to be something I'm proud of, and not something I rather photograph in dim lighting :D Cheers everyone, and I'll see you back when I'm done with more of my scaly friends!
As a huge Wow Fan and Long Long time player... Absolutely love this! Keep it up!
