AoS Range bonuses and endless spells

yes the only exception to range boosts is the bale wind itself

I was under the impression we just couldn't use arcane vessel, but that we could boost range with astrolith and BVW
 
Nope. Thanks to Morathi they nerfed it to the ground. There is no way at all to boost spell range on Endless Spells.

It is in the designer commentary to Malign Sorcery (and I think they also have it in the GHB or the core rule book as well)

A: No. Things that increase the range of a spell’s effects do not apply to the distance at which an endless spell can be set up. By the same token, things that allow you to measure the range of a spell from a different location to the caster cannot be used when setting up an endless spell.

I really wish they would have just specified her range boost didn't affect endless as opposed to nerfing all of us, especially since the whole freakin advertisement for them was us using arcane vassel

Yeah it was ridiculous.

Especially for us. Someone wrote an awesome warhammer community article how Seraphon, the masters of magic, can use arcane vassal and all that jazz to rule with Endless Spells, and then a week later they nerfed it to the ground because they made Morathi OP, instead of adding a little errata to Morathi's warscroll.

you never could... its one of the greatest 180 "fuck you"'s we ever got, just because of a single model in a different army...
 
Yeah, the ONLY way to "cast" endless spells from afar, it's the umbral spellportal.

At least, when our teleport happened in the hero phase we were able to to some nice trick...

I mean, who couldn't see coming that doubling the range of every spell for free would be problematic. ...

Seriously, why do morathi & Nagash exist? Those two essentially break any interesting mechanic that could be done with magic on account of being such enormous outliers compared to an "average" wizard... And then GW puts a blanket fix that nerfs all normal wizards into oblivion instead of fixing the actual problem cases...

Ah well, houserules ftw :p

Are you talking about the Umbral Spellportal?
Because that works for endless spells… only, you cannot "cast" through them: it's the spell that moves across the portal. but it cannot move again, since the teleport works when the endless spell ends its move near one of the portals.

ah thought you meant casting through it, not wondering through it once it's already been up for a moment.
