Greetings fellow Old Bloods and Spawn Kin!
This is my first post on here, so here goes:
I have three large armies (Lizardmen, Chaos Dwarfs, and Daemons of Chaos) and have been back into warhammer for several months now, so I've grown quite accustomed to the 8th edition rules of the game through regular games with friends.
Things have changed quite a bit since 5th edition, from what I can remember anyway (I was quite young back then!).
I seem to have two kinds of opponent within my circle my friends who also indulge in The Hobby: horde armies (WoC, Skaven, Beastmen) and gun/bow lines (Dwarves/High Elves).
The following list isn't necessarily modular, in that the units are increased in size for larger games as opposed to adding more and more units.
Here is my 1500 point list to start with:
Slann (General)
(Higher State of Consciousness + The Focused Rumination + The Becalming Cogitation + Lore of Light)
Scar Veteran BSB
(enchanted shield + crown of command+great weapon + light armour)
29 Saurus Spearmen (full command)
16 Skinks (2 Kroxigor + musician + standard)
5 Chameleon Skinks
1 Stegadon
1 Salamander + 1 Extra Crew
When the list is augmented to 2000 points it reads like this:
Slann (General)
(Higher State of Consciousness + The Focused Rumination + The Becalming Cogitation +
Obsidian LodeStone + Lore of Light)
Scar Veteran BSB
(enchanted shield + crown of command+great weapon + light armour)
45 Saurus Spearmen (full command)
24 Skinks (3 Kroxigor + musician + standard)
2 x 6 Chameleon Skinks
1 Stegadon
2 Salamander + 2 Extra Crew
and finally, for 2500 points it looks like this:
Slann (General)
(Higher State of Consciousness + The Focused Rumination + The Becalming Cogitation +
Obsidian LodeStone + Cupped Hands of The Old Ones + Lore of Light)
Scar Veteran BSB
(enchanted shield + crown of command+great weapon + light armour)
59 Saurus Spearmen (full command)
42 Skinks (3 Kroxigor + full command)
3 x 6 Chameleon Skinks
1 Ancient Stegadon
3 Salamander + 3 Extra Crew
So, there are the lists, what do you think?
Are they an ideal setup for playing against hordes or gun lines?
If you were playing against those kinds of armies, how would you use the list to beat them?
Is there anything you would change on the list that would make it stronger against the above-mentioned armies?
I look forward to your responses.
