Is this the same sort of Cave troll that turned to stone when Gandalf shone a light on it?
Short answer: unknown. There are different types of trolls and some can be seen being unaffected sunlight. I would guess that the cave troll might be immune because there was direct sunlight in the tomb room in the mines of Moria scene of the Fellowship of the Ring and the troll never turned to stone. Perhaps the troll didn't come into contact with it or it could be immune. Difficult to say. Either way, I think it would be fair to assume that if the poll characters were to battle, the cave troll would not be in stone form (otherwise the question in the poll is pretty irrelevant).

But what if one of the other fighters were to shine a light on it mid-battle?

Like I said, there is no definitive proof of a cave troll's weakness to sunlight. If anything, it would appear that it is immune. In any event, only sunlight has been shown to turn a troll to stone. Other light sources (such as fire) have never been shown to replicate the feat.

So in a sense the strategy would boil down to hoping that the fight takes place in an area that sunlight can reach, hoping to delay the fight long enough for the sun to rise (a fight which would likely be exceedingly short) and then hoping that the troll would turn to stone (for which what little evidence is available would indicate otherwise).

As such, I wouldn't place too much emphasis on the point in regards to this debate.

Certainly the Thor vs Hulk would be fun to see, as Thor is as you know my favourite and the only Marvel superhero I know much about.

Have you watched it yet? I'm surprised a huge Thor fan such as yourself would have missed it.

I just re-watched it a few minutes ago... sooooo good!

Not yet - I've been rewatching Middle Earth at the moment. It does look good, I have to admit, as I've seen Thor, Thor: the Dark World and the 2008 version of Hulk and liked them all very much.
