To be fair, his skill level was so far above the others, that none of them were that much of a challenge. Say what you will, but many big name players ( Beckham, Ibrahimovic, Henry, Kaka, Rooney, Bale, Villa, etc.) have spent the twilight of their career in the MLS, and only a few have won the MVP award, and none did it twice, let alone in back-to-back years.
