In Star Trek Online, Caitans can jump really high, and that's pretty much their only bonus. It doesn't come into play very much but it's fun to play as a cat. Whether I play a Caitan, human, Bajoran, or anything else, I still loathe the controls and I move around like a drunk person.
STO has a lot of flaws but I like that the character cast is less human dominated (because they don't have to pay a makeup department) so there are a lot more aliens on Starfleet ships.
If I ever get the basic controls of STO down, I may try to make a Caitan captain character with a science background and try flying a carrier. Maybe call the ship the USS Shrodinger to be a super nerd.

Naturally for Star Trek Online, the captain and his or her senior officers leads every away team. Not that that is a huge difference from the television series.
