Not necessarily, in truth us humans tend to be top predators. Hence why mammals dominate is because we allow them to live. However in the deadliest areas the most lethal killers are not mammals.

Precisely my point, we're mammals. That is a very strong check mark in the win column of mammals.

However in the deadliest areas the most lethal killers are not mammals.

I don't believe that is the case. In most regions mammals are either the top killer or nearly untouchable...

Think of killer whales in the ocean. Think of lions in the African plains. Elephants are nearly unstoppable. In North America there isn't much to take down a bear (people and disease aside).

Even if you go to African rivers where a crocodile would be the top killer, they get pushed around by Hippos quite easily. Hippo > Croc, its just that Hippos are herbivores so they won't be the "top killer".

I think mammals are very well represented just about everywhere. I can think of very few examples where they are not the dominant species or among the dominate species.

What non-mammal builds are you referring to?

also mosquitoes
Mosquitoes are responsible for a lot of deaths, but they also die in droves.

I see your mosquito and I raise you a bat (mammal!). Bats like mosquitos!

Australia in particular is where mammals don’t rule. Also a few small niches like in Indonesia with Komodo dragons. what I’m really referring to is the fact that it’s not “mammals are greatest” and while we may be top predators now, that was not always the case. I’m also fairly certain that spiders kill more mosquitoes than bats.

I would agree. Australia is one of the rare exceptions to the rule.

Once again that is a rare niche, but it is not the norm.

In that we agree. Tierzoo has mentioned that Dinosaurs reigned supreme for a very long time. However, most of his videos take place in "the current meta", where mammals are extremely dominant.

I’m also fairly certain that spiders kill more mosquitoes than bats.
Likely because there are many more spiders than there are bats. Per capita, I think this may begin to break down.
