Day 490 - Journal of Barlin Stonebrow
We have heard nothing for months… Beset on all sides by the forces of Chaos and watching the surrounds gradually change into a desert of black sand. The pressure of the daily attacks and the constant warfare drains us all. Just yesterday I saw Thorin muttering to himself and staring blankly at the wall.
It seems our lot is oblivion. We must be the last of our kind on this world. Surely if there were any other survivors we would have heard. Or seen. Surely someone would have thought to give aid. But there is nothing.
Ulgrum claims to have found a source of power for us… One that will protect us through the nightmare… At this point, I would take anything that could save us…

The rite tonight has invigorated me. I feel a determination and resolve returning to me. The sacrifices that our new deity Hashut demand are a small price to pay for the power that he has granted us. Our area of dominion grows outside our fortress and our enemies are beaten back.
The dissenters confuse me. Why would Thorek reject the power he is being offered? Why would he whine about right and wrong. I can see clearly now that there is only power. And who has the power and is willing to use it. Their prattle has started to incense me. Perhaps Hashut will receive a different sacrifice on the morrow.

We are one again. The last of the blasphemers I personally served onto the altar of Hashut and let them know the glory of the furnace. They now know the Father of Darkness. I am making progress with my magics. Today, my first Fireborn guttered into life and knew it's first subjugation. I believe that I enjoyed that more than the creation itself. Sometimes I find myself spending extra overseer hours in the mines. Just to find those slaves who still have a spark of hope, a spark of rebellion so that I can crush it and watch it die in their eyes.

So, in case it wasn't obvious by the flicker and the journal, I've bought my first Chaos Dwarf models (Lost Kingdom style, it's the one I prefer out of all of them). Bunch of dwarves (with fairly big hats @NIGHTBRINGER don't worry), some hobgoblins, a K'Daai Destroyer (I couldn't resist), some Bull Centaurs and a sorcerer. Still looking for some decent K'Daai Fireborn models and cheap war machines though...
Wife went in with me on funding it, which was really nice. I've done so good husbandly things recently and she said I deserved a reward.
They'll take a while to get to me as the cheapest place I found (and only) was a 3D printer in Oz... so a 2 week to 2 month wait time (sigh).
Ah well.

I thought you'd be happy.Well, I went through the remaining armies of the 8th Edition, took off those that close friends of mine have and Chaos Dwarfs ended up at the top of the list. The more I thought about it, the more I warmed to the idea as they are a pretty unique army. Solid core troops with the Chaos Dwarves, but also some greenskins with the Hobgoblins, daemons but also a large selection of war machines. I particularly like the Chaos Siege Giant, as I've always like the Giants of the O&Gs and this one handles a major flaw and weakness to shooting (particularly Poisoned Attacks). I'm sure it's not amazing in reality but I'm looking forwards to building a model for it.
Yeah, my typo that I fixed afterwards...
I'm working on my Excel grid now, then I'll do some experimenting with some lists!
