Meh, I'm sure it exists. It just seems to be far outnumbered by more grim stuff where the individual doesn't matter and there's little room for pagentry or nobility & heroism (or villainry). It's one of the bits I don't like about grimdark stuff, often it's pushed too far and it just gets a bit silly as it requires the heroes to be stupid. And least unrealistic noblebright heroes surviving cuz the cavalry arrived just in time only requires them to just be lucky.

AoS so far seems to hold a better balance between grimdark and noblebright, with more room for pagentry, nobility & heroism (and villainry) and a greater focus on individuals compared to the neverending "everything's trying to kill us and eventually it'l succeed" of WFB/40K

It's the army itself that it's awful.

Because Space Marines are at least somewhat original. Sigmarines are a copy. I actually have no issue with Space Marines beyond the fact that they are over-emphasized, over-represented and over-supported. I understand the financial reasons for doing so, but it does ruin them for me.

meh the fyreslayers suffer from being an overgrown cult. As a subfaction of the old dwarfs they were cool and interesting. On their own it just just a lot of the same. So they end up being a relativly uninteresting major faction.

Mainly because the other resident Fyreslayer fans haven’t seen this thread. @Xasto @Wazz Your Lodges need you!

However, to be fair, they are up against 3 other top-quality armies as stiff competition. If they were up against, say, Sigmarines and Ossiarch, they’d win easily.

That is a good point. Let's investigate. Why don't we all post our ranked lists?


Mine is as follows:
  1. Chaos Dwarfs / Legion of Azgorh
  2. WFB Dwarfs / Dispossessed
  3. Kharadron Overlords
  4. Fyreslayers


The Chaos Dwarfs are far ahead for me. The WFB Dwarfs and Kharadorn Overlords are very close to each other in my mind, with the deciding factor being that the Dwarfs are part of WFB and the KO are part of AoS. Trailing very far behind are the Fyreslayers.
 
For me it's
1. KO
2. Classic Dwarves
3. Probably Chaos dwarves since they seem cool.
4. Fyreslayers they just seem a bit plain and repetitive.

I’m sure we did this at the beginning of this thread, but here’s mine for the sake of continuity:

  3. KO (although they are pretty close to Fyreslayers)

For me it is this one.
Disclaimer: I have played none of them and I hardly know anything about half of them, so this is almost purely based on visuals.

1. Regular Dwarves
2. Kharadrons
3. Fyreslayers
4. Chaos Dwarves

Main reason for #1 and #2 is heavy armor. I dig that.
