Blog Paint & Kitbashes (2023) with Suds

So, my local store had a Phoenix in stock, and for 30% off, so I decided to snag it. I am building a Kingdom of Angels army for One Page Rules, and the army uses Phoenixes. I bought one a long time ago but i chopped it up for a kitbash, so I really wanted one to have as it was meant to be; plus I just love the model. With it now being out of production it was also a no brainer.

Anyway! Debating how I want to base it, may have it fly over this archway, but may also just do something simple20231012_220828.jpg

Bought this Phoenix from my local store yesterday and decided to begin it today. I also decided that I wanted to go a less traditional scheme for a fire Phoenix. Perhaps it's an older fire Phoenix, and its cooling or another reason, but I wanted to go a blue feathered route. So far just washed and dry brushing of white, but I'll be getting into the details soon. Really loving it so far, real glad I picked it up. Still need to work on parts of the underside to get it caught up to the top.20231014_004717.jpg

So, for the longest time I really haven't liked how my custom beastie looked with the Saurus and saddle. I thought on it for awhile, and have come up with a solution. I have many extra skinks, specifically the Terradon/Ripperdactyl skinks and have added three to the back. The leader wielding and axe while the two in back throw spears at foes.

What do you think?20231029_130444.jpg 20231029_130522.jpg 20231029_130549.jpg

Dude that is amazing!!
I love the frost effect you have made!!!

It really gives me the chills

Grrr, !mrahil
Thank you!!! That really means a lot! I need to post the update, hopefully soon. Been wanting to paint the bottom but have been lacking motivation to hobby.

Glad it gave you the chills! Haha

YES!!!
Great change. Their poses look so natural on this model.
Love it

That Troglosaur is amazing!

Edit: or is it Carnolodon? :D
Haha! I think I was calling it a Suchodon originally, but I may need a new name for it. I was thinking about it yesterday actually, and I was imagined how its mouth would open. I imagined a snake like mouth, where two large fangs unfold as the mouth opens, with smaller teeth lining the mouth (more dino like teeth or komoto dragon like); and feeding similar to the large lizard (also being a particular quadriped (sp?)).

Thank you! I am excited to see it all finished. Ive also decided that the material used for the beasties armor isn't gold, but instead Sandstone - makes me feel better about the color of it.

No where close to done but wanted to share proof of concept! Frost Phoenix freezing/winterizing the land below as it crosses over it. Base goes from (back) frozen > freezing > untouched (front). Tufts are loose fitted so i can still work on it and I still need to finish the Phoenix itself! Sadly those under wings won't paint themselves, lol I want to get some snow powder and such to help fill the scene/base more

Feels a bit appropriate doing this given we just had our first little snow flurries the other day, ahaha!20231103_194204.jpg 20231103_194209.jpg 20231103_200045.jpg 20231103_195948.jpg 20231103_195051.jpg 20231103_200128.jpg

That is some creative and great thinking! I LOVE THAT BASE!

Well done man!

Thank you! I am excited to see if fully finished, but man, it is coming together well! I appreciate it

So, I'm debating a battleline unit for the Adherents of Haset, a more generic battleline used by all the *War Folds*.

The idea so far all stems from Haset embuing a blessing on those mortals who join her cause that agree to it, the blessing bringing them closer to nature.

1. Some are given shapeshifting abilities, able to shift into different animals (though are given a primary form). Main thought was wolves or werewolves for lack of a better word.

2. others simply grow hooves, horns, and shaggy fur and take on more of a Hathorian form (Fauns essentially, similar to Gors i guess). So, like Beastmen the idea of a smaller front line half mortal/half animal

3. Aelves (probably Lumineth Pikes)

4. Raptor/Eagle Warriors, but in groups of 5 vs 10

Trying to think of things that are semi highland/upland related, any thoughts before i go down this path?

I am also tempted to add Frost Phoenix to the line up, but id need to think on that and make sure it makes sense lorewise to me
