Blog NIGHTBRINGER's Painting Blog - 1000 point (not so) year end Chaos Dwarfs challenge (78.2%)

Great progress on Hortennse! I love the base, both the vulture and the skulls look amazing!!

Keep up the great work, you are picking up pace :P

Grrr, Imrahil

Nice! I was originally thinking it was the old Crom the Conqueror model but wasn't sure.
That's a cool model too!

My original plan was to use my Archaon on foot model, but he was a little to bulky for the disc. It just didn't look good. Then I remembered that I had this guy in my collection and the fit is much better.

It's a perfect fit actually.
Thank you! It took quite a bit of work to make it fit together, but I'm extremely happy with the results.
  • filed the metal tab of the model so that it matched the arc of the top of the disc
  • I cut a slot into the top of the disc
  • epoxied the tab into the disc
  • green stuffed the bottom of the disc so that the tab is not visible
  • green stuffed the top of the disc to fix the foot alignment issue (since the model is designed to stand on a flat surface and the top of the disc is convex)
  • created a custom acrylic housing unit accept the 1/4 acrylic dowel

Now after investing so much effort and it (surprisingly) turning out exactly as I had planned, I'm afraid of messing it up with a subpar paint job. I haven't touched the model since. :p My eye has already begun wandering towards other projects!
