Hmmmm.....

Are there unspoken rules for how many threads I can bring back to life?

Or, in your capacity as a moderator, is there something I shouldn't be doing here?

This clearly depends on the content of the Thread.
If stuff isn't viable anymore, please don't bring it back to life ;)

Grrr, Imrahil

I've always wondered why there was any unspoken rule on thread necromancy. If someone is genuinely interested in a topic, why not bring it back to life? It beats creating a new thread on the very same topic in my opinion.

Hence, my question to the moderator.

@Killer Angel would you please clarify? Even if not written, but just expected I'd like to know.

There's nothing official, and in the FAQ @Scalenex did not mentioned thread necromancy.

However, on other gaming forums, thread necromancy is a "no way".
So, "necrothread" is well known by any forumeer, and we jest about it but in reality here we don't enforce it, because usually the thread is revived for an effective purpose... and if not, the traffic here is enough to drown said thread in a matter of a couple of weeks.

That said, i don't think that it will ever be a problem.
Except if someone resurrects a debate that includes rules that are no more valid (for example, rules from the AoS GHB 2018).
That would only create confusion, and the thread would be closed.

Righto.

And aside from hard-bound rules, in terms of etiquette as a forum member do we care if I revive old threads? As long as not (as you say) bringing back old rule sets to confuse things?

Thread necromancy is okay as long as one's intent is good and the old thread is still applicable to people today.

Necromancing a thread to troll or annoy is really no different from creating a brand new thread to troll or annoy.

Thanks for clarifying. I'll keep that in mind.

Thus far my necromancy has been limited to 8th edition threads I found interesting and thought could get some chat going on and falling victim to the black hole of @NIGHTBRINGER 's poll thread that appears before me every time he sends a message ;)
