8th Ed. New to WH, first 1000pt list

I have been putting a lot of thought into a 1000 point list, which is not necesserily optimal, but will allow me to learn most of the adpects of the game. I wanted a largish infantry unit, a combat and caster character, shooting, monster, etc. This is the final draft.



Lords -
Oldblood - Cold one, Armor of fortune, Dawnstone, Great Weapon.

Heros -
Skink Priest - Level 2 (Heavens), Dispel Scroll.

Core -
Saurus x 18 - Full Command, hw/s.
Cohort x 10
Cohort x 10

Special -
Bastilladon - Solar Engine
Chamelions x6

Rare -
Salamander Pack - Extra Handler



Again this list is not necesserily optimized. I was looking for opinions if this would be a good list for learning purposes.

Hi!

you're going to have fun with that oldblood!you've got the basics covered to see how things work.
A question for you - what's the pla for the two cohorts? You may find they just get steamrollered as they are only T2...
Any way to free up a few points to make at least one of them skirmishers? You might find them more useful in that configuration

Changing the skinks to skimishers is the plan once I get into higher point games for sure. For now I was looking at having a couple redirecting units, if not optimal, to get the basics with. Will definately see if there is somewhere to trim a few points to do that though, thanks.
