7th Ed. New to lizards, new list 2.0

I am getting into lizardmen and really like some of the models I wish to use. In fact I bought some of the models before I bought the book just because I liked them and thought they looked frikken cool. Heres a rough draft list for 2k. I am at work so I dont have points and if I dont list equipment it because I dont know what i need to equip them. Used to DE so something slow with number is new to me.

Scar Vet (No idea what to give him)

Its a small list but the idea is EOG in the center providing a +5 save to the two saurus units. A Steg on either end of the line and the skins for march blocking.
I end up in 2k with 62 points to spend on the Scar Vet. What should I get for him and what role should he have? Anti-challenger, troop destroyer?

Thinking for 2250 to get 3 terradons and another unit of skinks if I have the points.

With the expense of the mage-priest I tried to go minimal on the equipment. I could also add something to the temple guard champion. Like I said this is a rough list to get my idea across about what I want to do and what it should look like.

i found the best scar vet with a cold one, light armor, enchanted shield and burning blade of chotek. this way he has a 0+ armor save, movement 7 and 4 flaming attacks that modify armor by -4. he can kill characters, cavalry, regenerating monsters and rank and file troops just the same.
by skink scouts you mean skirmishers (core version, scouts are special)
20 saurus is way too much in my book and worthless wihout spears. their champion is also not worth the points since you can get another saurus for that cost. 2 units of 12 would serve you better. i also don't like the ideea of too many monsters. setgs are expensive and very vulnerable with only a 4+ armor save. the giant bow isn't anything sepcial either since the steg can't march to use it, its only 1 shot at BS 3 and its only S5. maybe for killing cavalry its good, but otherwise you are better off with an ancient steg that can kill monsters and rank and file troops just the same. it costs more but has +1I +1S and -1A

My new list after I picked up a few models to paint on. I fell in love with the Chatax model and I know he isnt worth his points but he is cool so I am using him. My main opponents as it stand now will be WOC and slayer oriented dwarves.

You could always use Chakax as a unit champ?
