Hey everyone!, I started playing right at the swap to AoS and have a good amount of friends who play 8th still. I'm finally going to get into it but dont know where to really start. I have the 8th ed rule book and 7th or 8th Lizardmen book. Any help with army comp/relic load outs would ve awesome! Thanks in advance!

Also there is a encyclopedia index of every tactics of the units in 8th ed. If you like to check out more specific details on how to mannish your lizards ;)

This forum is pretty neat, indeed; Scalanex has in general made a lot of effort into the indexes you'll find on here ;)

Will do! Just checked to see what edition of the codex I have (7th) at least I have the 8th ed rules haha

this sounds crazy, but definitely look at the 1d4chan site for 8th ed tactics. Those are generally a solid idea of where the meta was at the time that 8th edition was running wild.

they're filled with some "colorful" advice, but it can give you a sense of what WAS bad, what GOT good, and how to kit out.

caution: they can be a bit "Cheese"-y in as far as their approach on what to kit... if you just want to have fun, go thematic man.

make saurus warriors that all have different patterns on them as each spawning was different. i say, read the lore in both books and then make an army that works for what you've then envisioned lizards to be

This was my favorite combination, as this was the norm for a couple of years.
With this combo we had our maximum number of equipment options/combos for our heroes/lords.

Nice! Thanks @ItalianSpartacus! @n810 maybe I can convince some people to play 7th then lol. The 8th edition codexs are getting a little toooo pricey for my likes lol.

I think many of the prices have been slowly coming down on Ebay. Some books are significantly more expensive than others. The Orc book for example is pretty cheap while the Dwarf book tends to be more expensive.

If you can find an indie store selling GW, they sell their codexes at cost usually. I bought my Lizardmen codex @ cost for $25 USD

Note: I'm only talking about editions that have ended

That is true... but you do have to get extremely lucky that they still have the specific leftover stock that you are looking for. Some places also buy and sell used items, so you can check these shops consistently to see if something comes in.

Awesome! Thanks everyone!

You can always keep an eye on ebay. I only had the 8th Ed. basics (BRB, armybooks for my armies, etc.) until after Age of Sigmar came out, but after all the books became obsolete people were selling them. I got a full set of every army's last armybook edition for $100 (including shipping) and I got a full set of End Times books (both story and rules) for $175 (including shipping). I really have enjoyed those purchases, reading through all the fluff that the Warhammer World ended with. Maybe you'll get lucky too.
