- the 9th edition rules aren't going to be the big jump that moving from 7th edition to 8th was.
- there are going to be 3 versions of Warhammer. The Age of Sigmar - recommended for point totals 500 to 1,500 and will be a skirmish style game. The Age of Steel - Warhammer as we all played it over the last 5 years. The End Times - magic heavy and 50% lords & heroes (and Lore of Undeath).
- power dice are now a base of 2D6 (4D6 for End Times) up to 2,000 points, add another power dice for every 1,000 points after that so fielding a 4,000 point army would roll 4D6 Winds of Magic or 6D6 in the End Times.
- lots of new spells though the #6 spells all allow Ward Saves
- new magic items. Some went away, some new ones arrived.
- 8th edition measuring still exists
- Regeneration now works like a War Hydra, dead models come back with a single wound on a 4+ (I think Plaguebearers just won Warhammer)
- Lances do impact his on the charge
- Spears are +1ST if they hold against "mounted units"
- ASF has changed. Units that charge get ASF vs the unit they charge.
- Fear as now but tests are at -1 leadership, Terror at -2 (BSBs are still OP)
- Killing Blow does D3 wounds
- Heroic Killing Blow still kills everything
- characters riding monsters have a merged profile (which I presume is why cannons are still going shout '10 from the back!'...)
- Steadfast can be lost with a single rank of 5 in the flank. Units cannot be Steadfast against anything that can Thunderstomp them

- 2D6 Scenarios and a much broader terrain chart
- models lose half their charge roll distance if they clip terrain (think of it as toned down 7th edition terrain rules) though dangerous terrain is still in effect (1s to wound for models that take dangerous terrain tests)
- new building rules though they still look bad
- combat resolution - outnumbering is back
- holding table quarters is back too

So our spear units got better and so did our monster units. Essentially this have made infantry quite weak and monsters quite good. If true. How weird considering we are a monster/infantry centric army xD

Eat with a spoon of salt

"Units that charge get ASF vs the unit they charge" <-- REVERTING BACK TO 6TH EDITION CHARGE STYLE. :D
(this means we will get to hit first if we charge) :woot:

Thanks for the rumours @Pinktaco . Where did you get them from? There are definitely some things that sound good in there, and some that sound bad.

I definitely hope that they don't nerf infantry.

ASF has changed. Units that charge get ASF vs the unit they charge.
I like this... setting up and pulling off a charge should be worth more than just +1 combat resolution.

Whineseer of course. I actually read the ASF thingy as if the actual ASF rule only works if you charge and not that everybody gain ASF if you charge.

I actually like gaining ASF from a charge much more because suddenly our spear guys became much, much better. They can hold again cavalry and be OP and charge against everything and be ridiculous.

I wonder.. if gaining ASF for the first round then mean that we strike at initiative in the following round? I'd be okay with that. Our CoRs would be immensly better just by gaining ASF for 1 round. o.O

I would also like to know where this is from.

Regen
I like how they nerfed regen.
Takes it far away from wardsaves.
Remember, its not a save anymore.
Anything you kill counts towards combat resolution, regardless of it coming back or not.

Lances
*Claps my hands*

Fear/Terror
I smell a future for the carno terror-cannon !
especially when reading the changes to Steadfast!

ASF
Interesting....when it says "ASF has changed", is it refering to the "when you charge" or to an actual change to the rule?

In any case, it helps us a lot!

Probably, that's how it worked in 6th edition...
hmmm.... cold ones with spears charge, now they get to strike first, & they get +1 strength. :woot:
or get +1 strength if they get charged by cav

- Spears are +1ST if they hold against "mounted units"
- mounted units with spears already get +1ST on the turn they charge*

It doesn't say if the +1S/T is for infantry only though. Currently t here's a difference between cav and infantry spears so I'd assume that would translate into 9th edition as well.

I makes sense for me to give spear units a buff, but extra toughness? I'm all for that, but if wyssan's wildform is still a think we could end up having S/T6 saurus warriors. In that case... Come at us breh :mooning:

Some good news for us, but some are bad. For example n°6 spells allowing ward saves: HElves cannot be dwellered anymore, i guess, and we'll have more to complain about no lances/regeneration. The rest is very good, but we know we cannot trust too much, don't we? :)

I Believe ST = STrength.

These rumours do seem to be very specific considering that the release is still a ways out.

Yeah I seriously doubt we can count on all of these rumours coming to fruition. However I bet at least half of them end up being true. I really hope that getting flanked means something again (6th and 7th). In *th its really not a big deal which is dissapointing to me. For monster/rider combined profiles i cant see it not coming to fruition but i really hope that they only combine wounds and toughness. This is purely from a fluff perspective as i like the idea of my mount having separtate attacks. I really hope the +1 str for spears when charged by mounted units comes true. Spears in general are not used very much right now

I think the rules are bogus in all honesty. I hope not, but yeah.. why should *these* be real? With that said they give food for though and makes me all excited and giddy inside. I really do hope that at least some of the rules are true. I'd love for spears to be more viable and for us to have chance at actually attacking if we charge. Those two alone would change our army completely and make stuff like saurus warriors and CoRs all kinds of viable again.

Not to mention... Ripperdactyls actually getting a charge on their target. Yesterday we kinda agreed that wild riders are sick because they have ASF. If we can have that + hatred on our rippers they'll be mad good. I don't care if they all die if they can remove 14 white lions before they do so:troll: I believe Rippederrick made some very good example with math of what rippers can do in the flank of various units. There's no denying that if Rippes can deliver their payload they will, it's just that they need to be able to actually do so and currently being forced to pull a flank charge with their Ld5 frenzy is quite hard.

S5 saurus warriors would complelety change our look on them. What's our main issue for not using them? The abundancy of 1+/2+ armoured units hitting them first and removing so many that we won't be steadfast anyway. S5 would make saurus warriors quite decent against our n1 enemy (besides avoidance lists that it).

Considering that the spear being one of the most used weapon historically, for a reason, it would defiantly makes sense to grant some much needed boost to those kind d of weapons ;)

I guess we can just hope :bag:

Some of the changes listed would really improve the game imo. and give us a broader set of choices. Though it is all just speculations at this point I guess.

Congratulation. How do you feel about that? :p

I think they have several different drafts of the rules in work and their playtesting & research consists of floating a batch of rumours every so often and then assessing what sort of a WhineStorm it sets off.

When they get a set that doesn't fare too badly.... it's Off To The Printers!! ...then the PR types start gibbering about how "brilliant" and "fantastic" the next one will be! By Jove :pompus: this time they've got it right!! :shifty: best version evar!

:meh:

:meh:

In reality they really don't give 2 sh1ts about us, unfortunately. They've already stated this if I'm not mistakening. A new edition is just a way for them to generate money. :)
