AoS NEW *rumor*

In general there seem to be an absurd amount of point drops. And quite a lot of big ones. Maybe GW just wants to force people to buy more models to get to 2000 points? :p
Haha, you might be right :p.

We are going into a potentially powerful magic meta, and we mostly see point increases on "magic support" units, and decreases on everything else. Admittedly, a lot of the models were overpriced for their impact at the drop of the battletome, but some of these shifts still feel like, "nothing can end in 5pt splits..."

Honestly, the increases aren't bad and the stuff that went down in cost really needed it. My first impressions were that everything was overcosted, and they've mostly fixed that so I'm very happy

Something i just noticed is that the Slann Starmaster is the only unit in our entire army that's still at an interval of 5 for some reason, being left unchanged rather than going up or down like the rest. Out of every single unit in the game, now only the Slann and the Webspinner Shaman from gloomspite gitz has a points cost that ends in 5, i guess because they got missed in the change?

Sounds like you need to take two Slanns so you can get a nice even number.

But as it is the only unit that ends with a 5 it effectively went up 5 points.

Pretty recent Season of War battle report using the upcoming season's rules (magic dominance). Seraphon Starborne did win priority every round, and there were up and down rolls, but Starborne wreck with magic MWs.

Haven't watched it, but it's a battle with the new adjustments in rules and points? 'cause SB have been nerfed.

It is with the new rules for the upcoming season, but it isn't with the updated points. This bat rep predated the point changes.

Looks like the nerf hammer didn't hit us too bad. I just saw the results from the renegades of the realms tournament that happened last weekend. It was the first one using the new generals handbook, points and FAQ. Seraphon took 3rd and 4th place! Both seraphon players only lost to the first place Khorne list and surprisingly the starborne list only lost by 1 point and almost won the tournament.

3rd place was Fangs with Kroak, Slann, starseer but no Trog (rip). It took the endless spells, Malevolent maelstrom and geminids, which are great right now. Maelstrom is really easy to make explode or can be unbound in the enemy turn, geminids is insanely good shutting down command abilities to tons of units. No spells from the lore of frost which is interesting.

The new coherency rule is a HUGE buff to agrodons which can now be taken in a group of 6 and all fight. Hoarfrost from a skink starseer is very nice on warriors, agrodons, and kroxigor (also taken in a group of 6) the thing that really stood out for me though in this list was the 2 bastiladons! In coalesced they make great back objected campers and their signature monstrous rampage is sooo good against infantry that tries to steal the objectives.

So looks like we will be doing pretty good in the new season.

Khorne is all around just really good but not a hard counter to seraphon. The starborne list only lost by one point and was able to take two bloodthirsters off the board by turn 2. From what I heard about the game the Khorne player who won, he was on the losing side for most of the game but is an amazing Khorne player and was able to win with board position not damage.

The 3rd place starborne list did go up against another khorne player and won.

I think our book is a lot better than what some on this forum give it credit for. Both starborne and coalesced are good and viable. I also think our lists are going to evolve and we will have 4 or so main lists, Starborne Kroak MWs, starborne merciless blizzard, coalesced no Slann, and coalesced with Kroak.

I do think that if Khorne isn't a hard counter to Seraphon, it's at the very least a rather one-sided matchup. The thing about Khorne is that it resists magic really well, which neuters Starborne effectively. It also outfights Coalesced in melee very well. Even if you manage to take an early lead as Coalesced Khorne's prayers which we have no counter to and their summoning which they will get just by fighting us seems to be able to give them the win on objectives late game when we have nothing left to hold off their fresh summons with.

Our army has changed a ton from the new battletome and again from the FAQ. It pays differently than it used to, but I've seen various analyses that continue to rank both factions as top-tier armies in the game. Starborne has powerful area damage spells and is an extremely mobile control list. Coalesced can really take a punch. With 6 model coherency, Aggradons are a proper hammer and Ripperdactyls are good again. Even Kroxigor benefit with their bites. Honestly, I think it's a good time to be playing Seraphon.

Starborne are a very flexible, mobile control list. They have a lot of mortal wound and debuffs spells, but aren't dependant on them.

In another forum, I've been talking to people about how to defeat Khorne. I suggested minimizing casting spells that target their units, and instead focus on wasting their time with mobile skinks and keep them busy while scoring points. One player in the forum has tried it and defeated Khorne handily.

Wohoo, we went like a whole month before someone suggested "just spam skinks" again.
You'd think after 3 battletomes we'd have managed to move past that.

Skinks are our cheap and mobile chaff unit, it’s not a huge surprise they’re good in that role

There's a difference between skinks being good, and our basic strategy being "Basicly ignore everything else and just spam skinks"
