I kind of like the new one myself, better fluff (in my opinion) more types of units.... better skink LD.... etc, etc, etc.

The new one is awesome! Temple guard are worth taking now, even chameleon skinks are OK (and they are my favourite unit fluffwise...although I can't fit them in)

Even better, we finally have some history in between the chaos and the war with pestilens!

Yeah, I love the 40-odd pages of fluff (especially page 18: Chakax vs. Greater Daemon of Chaos!!!)

And Oxyotl's fluff is so good too... :smug: :D

If there's one thing that's bad about the new book, it's that they got rid of Nakai!!!!!!! :jawdrop:

I miss strength 7 kroxigors and scouting skinks.

Also where can I find this Lizardmen Codex you speak of? ;)

Sorry... Again. Lol, I keep forgetting, TY. I'll change it now...

I didn't play the old army so can't really compare too much... But I think the fact that I started upon seeing the new book and models, but looked at 6th and thought they looked really cool but didn't start, is testimony that I quite like the new ones.

I do feel that the loss of strength for kroxigors hurts them a lot, I was looking forward to fielding a unit and probably won't now, but overall I think the book is really well balanced and a lot of fun.

Mostly the new book for it's cool new stuff...

But I liked the old book too, the fluff, scouting skinks, S7 krox's, spawnings... All that stuff...

But the loss of predatory fighters is just too good to reject. :bored:

Cheers!

Yeah, I only played a couple games with the old codex, i mean *army book* (it'll take time barotok), but chariot killa krox was pretty cool.

PS. Strewart, I saw the thread in which you got your sig. Nice!

i just made a really long post about how i like the old one better, then my browser crashed -_- anyway here the short form again.

old book pros:
- better krox
- better slann
- better salamanders
- better chameleon skinks
- option to play sacred hosts
- better fluff (the short story about the carnosaur was great, i miss stuff like that in the new book)
- marks of the old ones

old book cons:
- few magic items
- armys did often not fit fluff because saurus were seldomly taken

new book pros
- engine
- new items
- carnosaur not large target
- better saurus

new book cons:
- many item additions are useless
- many units are useless (razordons, ranked skinks...)
- ALL the special chars are useless. and they have embarassing names on top of it.
- Many rules problems, especially with cupped hands
- even a casual microsoft word spelling check would have been able to remove most of those annoying
typos. Magwe Priest? come on...

I just think the new book took more from me than it gave back. I don't have as much fun playing lizzies than before. sorry again to not explain my points further but i don't feel like writing it all again.

a quick edit: the new book also did not adress some flaws that the old book had, which i would expect from a good new book. i am thinking of still useless swarms, and it did leave out good stuff that would have been no trouble to include, like the sacred hosts.

the things i miss most about the old book are the salamander rules the krox we're better with their charge through skinks rule and str. 7 and i liked the spawnings moving through woods with no difficulty was often a great suprise for opponents

the new stuff i like is that you can make the slann more versitile i am still not sure if i like that he is no longer a large target and that he has to be in a unit of temple guard to cast from the second rank the engine and the war spear are great additions as is the new BoR and the carno not being a large target and the saurus with spears are amazing

i still haven't started playing yet so im not sure if my opinion means much but im really pissed cuz i was planing an army around lord kroak. but now i download a new copy of the book (deleted the old one) and see that he is nolonger the terror he was before. i hate the new book!
:chicken:

Well Your Kroak based army would not have worked anyway under 4000 points, so it would habe been wise to build your 2800 points army and then get kroak, which would have taken some time anyway i assume.

Btw Buy the books, don't download them. If you are planning on building an army of that point size the cost for the book really is neglectible.

I second this. My opinion is based on the fact that I've spent a lot of time in hobbies that were far more expensive than WHFB. Shelling out $25 for a book isn't bad at all. Spend the money, and don't give GW another reason to raise the price on the rest of the honest people who acutally went out and spent the money.

oh, and Ignore the million spelling errors that GW decided to hit us with....

like the magwe priest!

I did like the sacred spawnings, and instead of improving it, they took it out!!! That's all I really don't like. New special characters, new special choice...

I like the new book, we got:

Better Saurus
Ranked Skinks + Kroxi's
Custombuild your own slann
Lots of fluff
some cool items
Engine of the gods
temple guard that rock

What I would have like to keep:
The old Jag charm
Spawnings
Drain magic.

I really miss drain magic, we could have really dominated the magic phase with that spell in addition to our real goodies. over all I like the new book best. Good job GW!

Yes, I really do miss spawnings and drain magic, but at least I didn't get too used to it, as I only played a couple games with it...
