8th Ed. New Lizardman army book and info

Pinktaco, I think it's against the forum rules to post exact point values. I'd guess 15-25 points.

Sorry about that. :)

It have already been answered though, but thanks anyway.

Just post it in Skavenslaves like everyone else does. What's the base cost of a Skink Priest? Has that changed at all?

Unchanged for both 1st or 2nd level skink priests.

Can't march and shoot. Template is now strength 4 but only uses the -1 armour save from that. No autopanic.

The interesting thing now is that there isn't a cap on unit size. So you could run one unit of 5 or 6.

There's still auto panic. It's under the rules for fire throwers in the brb, which salamanders now use.

S4 isn't much change. It's actually just as good vs Chaos Warriors as -3as. It's also better at lower quality troops. It's is of course much worse about getting vast armour better than 4+.

How would you guys operate a Slann with the new book,
putting it with tons of upgrades into a temple guard with razor banner, is cool, but costs tons of points.

Then again the etheral discipline is also quite expensive, and a lot of armies have magic warmichines.
I still play with the idea of fielding the Slann on its own even without etheral.
What would you suggst?

Probably the same as before; slann with 24+ temple guard. Don't bother with the razor.

I tend to agree about the razor thing,
with halberds they get chaos warriors to a 6+save (if they use halberds as well), that should be enough.

I also play with the idea of fielding 2 25er Saurusblocks with Spears and provide them with a Scar Vet (with only limited magical gear). Statistically they should be able to take on juicy enemies as well

Any thoughts on that?

That's what I've ended up with as well. I'll also point out that my list has 2 Sallies, to my slight chagrin. I hate those models - anyone got conversion ideas?

theres a guy who makes dimetrodon models of the same scale, can't remember his name although hes on facebook.

Salamanders are now more better anti-infantry than before. Against cavalry and anything with better AS it's now worse, so I'm worried what we can use against cavalry.

wow, it would be awesome run 2 units made by 5 salamanders!

Stegadons. And surprisingly rippers for the non monstrous kind.

Personally I'd probably use High magic Slann and switch one spell to searing doom :D But Stegadons would do great, even against monstrous cavalry now thanks impact wounds doing d3 wounds (with an upgrade). Still would have hoped that we'd have something specialized taking cavalry and monstrous cavalry. Razordons would have been nice, maybe lowered it's barbs strength but giving no as (or something) ^^

Sounds like the only new models I will be buying are two stegadons.

Does the bastiladon really have strength 4? Seems odd that a skink chief could carry as much weight as that tank of a creature.

Yes it's only S4. The only good thing about it... or useful... is if you want to run Jungle Swarms.

Yep, and while it only gets 3 attacks, one of them is S10 and has to be used against an enemy in the Basitiladon's rear arc.

Not great.
