AoS New List for a New Player? (Please help!)

In thunderlizard your bastiladon will be super powerful. Buff bastiladon with skink priest +1 hit and hand of glory spell etc. You'll want to use the command ability to fire him twice every turn and take out your opponents key threats. Best to keep him near the realmshaper out of melee combat and screen him well. You can heal him up using the priest in the realmshaper as well.

The main problem here is you will only be rend -1 attacks and sylvaneth have access to 2+ saves. Thats why the starseers spell would be extremely helpful getting your damage through. You also need to be careful engaging durthu in melee, he will make you fight last if he rolls a 4+ and can 1 shot a mega gargant.

Take out durthu from range if you can and keep some of your wizards within 30 inches of his to unbind his spells. Anything you have that does mortal wounds from range u want to take. Realmshaper/slann comets are good chip damage make sure you can get those off.

Reading through this, I'll be playing these lists precisely... fortunately it won't be Sylvaneth.

My first battles are against Tzeentch and Stormcast!

After some more thought I might go with something like this:

Thunder Lizard

Scar vet on carno*
-warspear
-general
-prime warbeast
-amulet of destiny
Skink priest*
-heal
Skink starpriest*
-hand of glory
-fusil of conflagration

Saurus knights x5*
-lances
Saurus Guard x5
Saurus Guard x5

Bastiladon w/ solar engine

Warlord Battalion*

Strange enough, I'd actually consider guard here without slann with what you have available - can buff them up a bit through synergies with scar vet and starpriest although your buffs are probably best used on the knights/bastiladon. You don't have many battleline options and you are required to take atleast 2.

You could also swap warlord battalion for battle regiment to get one drop deployment but you'd lose amulet of destiny.

How's it going! I just wanted to see if you would still run a similar list? The tournament was actually pushed back till winter break so I've had more time to accumulate models! This is what I have available to me now:
Heroes:
- Lord Kroak (x1)
- Slann Starmaster (x1)
- Scar-Vet on Carnosaur (x1)
- Old Blood on Carnosaur (x1)
- Saurus Astrolith Bearer (x1)
- Skink Starseer (x1)
- Skink Starpriest (x2)
- Skink Priest (x1)

Battleline:
- Saurus Warriors (x24)
- Saurus Knights (x16)
- Saurus Guard (x15)
- Skinks (x36)

Behemoth:
- Bastiladon (x1) *with interchangeable Ark of Sotek or Solar Engine

Other Units:
- Terradon Riders (x3)

I'm sorry to keep bugging you with my questioning about this. I just found out that I'll actually be playing my friend's Slave to Darkness 1000pt list and then have to go against a Tzeentch list as well. If you have any advice on list-building, I'd really appreciate your insight. Especially since the point changes for a few units (namely the Bastiladon) came to light this past week.

So I’m now playing my buddy’s Slaves to Darkness and I actually can see this list working.

What would be priority though, as I’ve accumulated enough for a battleline unit of 20x Saurus Warriors / am wondering if Starseer could fit.

Also now that Amulet of Destiny has changed, would it be more viable to just Battle Regiment One-drop?

I’ve just ordered a Stegadon but I fear it won’t be here on time for me to quickly build and paint it unfortunately.
