Hey guys, I have a 2300 pt tourny coming up and I have three lists I have written up. I have been able to try one so far so it is the one I am working with right now but I intend on try the other ones as well before picking one over the others. I have had little opportunity to play with the new book unfortunately, so I am still getting used to things.

Lord
Oldblood, glittering scales, gold sigil sword, other trickster shard, talisman of preservation, shield

Heroes
Scar-Vet, BSB, armor of destiny, shield
Scar-Vet, enchanted shield, shrieking blade, crown of command, light armor
Skink priest, lvl 2, lore of beasts, dispel scroll
Skink priest, lvl2, lore of beast

Core
60 Saurus warriors, spears, command
10 skink skirmishers, blowpipes
10 skink skirmishers, blowpipes

Special
9 Chamo Skinks
Bastiladon, solar engine
2 swarms
2 swarms

Rare
Ancient Steg, EotG, sharpened horns

General Idea - So basically, I have a giant kick ass unit of saurus in hoard formation that dishes out an ungodly number of attacks (plus more from PF). All three fighty characters go in there to crack heads, and the unit starts with a static combat res of 5. Enemies are forced to take fear against it due to the Shrieking Blade, the unit is stubborn-rerollable. They have a 6+ward due to the EotG, swarms give them poison attacks, the priest can buff them with wyssans or when needed hit one or all the characters with savage beast. Bastiladons buff the units I, the bound spells on the bastiladon and Engine provide some extra hitting power if the opportunity presents itself. I tend to have the priests sitting behind the saurus with the bastiladon (who only comes out to play against average infantry). The chamo skinks take care of war machines or monsters, and the skirmishers deal with monsters and fast cav.

I played my buddy's HE list which was mainly silver helms, supported by a big unit of white lions, a white lion chariot and a frost pheonix. The army pretty much worked as I intended it and I won with chamo taking out an eagle, and two bolt throwers, and skinks working to redirect charges and killing off a unit of reavers. It sucked facing off against a lvl 4 to to be honest most folks in my town don't play magic heavy, and I killed the wizard anyways.

Anyways, what do you guys think? Is it to risky just taking one giant unit of fighters supported by and buffed by a bunch of stuff? Would this list be better if I did away with the old blood and priests in favor of a slann? If not the only change I am contemplating is equipping the oldblood differently (i.e. light armor, shield, talisman of preservation, ogre blade, dragon helm).

Looks pretty solid to me. :smug: :smug:

So I have now tried this list against 5 different players, in 7 games, against 6 different armies and it has only lost twice (once was do solely to uncommonly good dice rolling recognized by both parties so really its only lost once :p). It has defeated HE, Ogres, TK, Vamps, and Deamons. Feeling very confident in it, and the only adjustment I have made is to swap out the other trickster shard and gold sigil sword on the old blood in favor of the sword of might and a potion of speed, as well as consolidating the two units of swarms to one unit of 3 swarms to fit in a cube of darkness on my other skink priest.

My list even defeated the local master gamer and his demon army. See a stegadon with sharpened horns hit a bloodthirster and killing it with impact hits is....delicious. :walkingdead:

I dont understand how you can survive vs. any decent magic army with just one dispel scroll (and no slaan)? Id definitely vouch for cube of darkness. But hell, if this works of you.. nice fun list :)

Honestly, magic is too fickle to be reliably good, and yea like i said above I am deff making the switch to include the cube of darkness. If I have experienced anything it is that against a high level wizard he may get one or two spells off in a round which can be countered with the scroll and cube if used appropriately. As for my own magic, I usually throw a few dice at a bunch of things, the skinks easily cast what they need to cast on two dice, and then there is the solar engine to punch things as well as the pulse attack from the stegadon. The HE list with its lvl 4 was a tougher match, but my area does not tend to see people take high level casters because they are not viewed as reliable for their point cost.

Really? Surprising, I guess its differnt meta. If I tried to played this I'd get a foot of gork or a fiery conv on my guys immediately. It would be insane pain :D
