The latest rumour flying around, now teased on the GW website, is that there is an upcoming campaign based around the return of Nagash. It's been suggest that this will allow undead units to be taken in other armies.

This presents a number of fantastic conversion and game play opportunities, so what's everyone looking forward to? Personally, I love hexwraiths and vargeheists and could csee myself adding dinosaur variants of both. But if it extends to tomb kings I might finally get some of that heavy monstrosity cav I've been so keen about!
 
I feel cautiously optimistic at this point. New and WHFB are two things I don't see enough of in GW press releases (especially when compared to 40k). I hope they don't break things with this release.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Vargeist. I love the way the model looks and the rules are pretty good, but I always get destroyed when I attack them. Obviously I been "doing it wrong", but I wouldn't mind having their power on my side of the battle.
 
What exactly do the vargheists do? just fast monstrous infantry? frenzy? i've never faced VC at all!
 
Scratch Vargeist, I meant Vargulf. They have hatred, regeneration, terror and they are vampiric. They are not something you want to get into close combat with without flaming attacks. I've had very hard times killing them with my Elves. I'm usually the one who ends up dead. Howver, now that I look at the rules and stats, they don't look so great. My experiences with them have been brutal though.
 
hmm.. the sisters would be the way to go there. hit them to get rid of their regen, then blast them with RBT's. For lizzies, probably the beam of chotec. Do they fly? if so, then follow the beam with any heavens magic.

To be honest. I detest these changes. I started a Lizardmen army because I like lizardmen. If i wanted a VC army, I'd have started one, and it's this kind of standards-flawing that sends me into a rage. It's all about selling models, and nothing about consistency. Grr.

The last time I played against it, it was pre-Sisters (kind of tells you how long it has been since I've had a good game).

I can understand where you are coming from, and if this was being set up as a permenant change (in other words, that god-awful Unbound system in 40k, or the return of mercenaries/dogs of war), then I would 100% agree with you.

But as a time-limited (until the campaign or whatever it is finishes, or within the context of the campaign book) and restricted (its only Undead armies, and not open season) enterprise, then I'm happy to just see it as a bit of fun.
 
Ah, man!! Yes!!

This addition perfectly fits the fluff of my themed lizards!

They reside in the ashen ruins of Pahuax, led by a death-obsessed, prophetic necro-Slann.

The Egg of Quango, Oxyotl, Chameleon Skinks - these all show up in my lists.

I would sooo love to add Undead into my list-building theme! :) Very exciting.
 
well this is somewhat more acceptable.
Also, I saw the model for nagash. He's massive... Was he not supposed to be a regular necromancer at one point?
 
He was pretty normal (as normal as Necromancers can be, anyway), but he confused a Warpstone for rock candy one day.

Whoops!
 
Seems that Grey Seers have more luck with the warpstones. I'm disappointed that they made the guy so massive.


It's completely unheard of, but it looks like they made such a big monster so he'd cost more, so they'd make more money!

It is, but but to change grounded backstories to push financial agenda doesn't sit right. Feels a bit like "selling-out", so to speak.

Similar to what I thought of the new The Hobbit movies and the extensive use of CGI rather than latex as they did with the LOTR trillogy.
 
Nagash has always been large. This one is just larger.

And at 1000 points, I'd want a suitably impressive model.

He's huge in his fluff too. Started as a normal dude but with the use of warpstone and dark magic he became mass vans extremely hard to kill.

I wouldn't say the Grey Seers had more luck with warpstone. In fact I think their skill with it pales in comparison.

Rules wise, I think he's close to how he should be. He's an absolute monster, and his points cost reflects that ;)

What an epic character. Talk about a cannon magnet. I can already just hear a dwarf player screaming FIRE ALL LAZORZZZ....
Anyway, im quite put off. While im happy for the undead, he is just awesome. Im pissed at our book. We just get that crappy mazdamundi. The Slann are supposed to be super powerfull and all..... luckily Kroak is awesome tho.
 
Those new models though ... :jawdrop: exciting times indeed, especially if this is the first of things to come!
