I’m getting ready for a tournament on November 9th. Nothing big is different from standard scenarios but there are lots of little tweaks here and there. End Times rules are disallowed (no necromancy for me
) as is Fozzrik’s Folding Fortress, but pretty much everything else goes.
The first game is a 2000 point Battleline, the second game is a 2250 point Battle for the Pass, and the third game is a 2500 point Dawn Attack scenario. Note, that if all three armies are substantially different then I get bonus points. I’m going for variety with gusto. There are also bonus points for having a fully painted army (not quite there), complete WIZIWIG (I can do that for most, but I rely on archer Skinks), and sportsmanship though most points are earned by winning battles.
Every table has a neutral monster (or small unit) worth 60 to 250 points that moves randomly and is hostile to both sides. Killing the monster counts as taming it, and those who beat the monster can take it with them as an ally next game or convert it to bonus tournament points. Grabbing certain objectives (terrain features) allows bonus magic items to be claimed. We can also recruit mercenary forces from the ref’s model collection, not sure if that’s an objective that’s seized or comes with the scenario. Objectives have to be claimed with a 100 points of troops so that’s why my Chameleon Skink units are a bit bigger than you usually see.
Each table has a terrain theme wasteland, abandoned mines, murky river lands (I want that one, but I doubt I can pick), far north, deep forest, desert, and open plains. They each have different monsters and objectives. As if that is not enough, the third round has an extra surprise.
Naturally I tweaked with unit sizes until I hit the points values on the nose each time. I'm open to feedback and suggestions, let me know what you guys think.

Everything is a M6 or M7 because I’m going to have cross a long table. I figure I will be casting the augmented versions of the Beasts buffs a lot. Plan is to charge across the table with an army center being a Skroxigor death star horde flanked by mighty Stegadons. I figure the table is narrow enough that’s all the frontage I need, but I can hopefully squeeze my Kroxigor in somewhere. After all, I figured with this many Skink characters I needed some PF units to restrain.
Dawn Attack, Let Slip the Beasts of War!
Slann Mage Priest, BSB, Standard of Discipline, Focus of Mystery (High Magic), Harmonic Convergence, Becalming Cognition, Higher State of Consciousness, Channeling Staff, Egg of Quango
Saurus Scar Veteran, Cold One, Armor of Destiny, Great Weapon
Skink Priest, L1 Lore of Heavens, Scroll of Shielding
26 Saurus Warriors with hand weapon and shield and FC
20 Cohort Skinks with Musician and Brave
13 Skink Skirmishers with Patrol Leader

Pack of 3 Razordons with 2 snacks

Plan is to shoot the crap out of my enemies and use my high mobility to seize objectives. The Slann will float in the back casting Walk Between Worlds and Hand of Glory at every opportunity. I’ll probably swap some spells out for Light or Shadow. The army is mobile enough to be very forgiving for deployment so it should work well with a Dawn Attack scenario.
