8th Ed. Monster list 2400pt army

Could people please give me some advice with my army list as I haven't played much, please don't say anything along the lines of "Take saurus" or "take a slann" as I am looking for constructive advice/criticism so explain why I should do something Thank you for your advice upfront.

The basic tactics of this army is: the skink cohort takes the charge as an anvil/tar-pit while most of the the army forms the hammer, the trio of bastiladons spread the +1 initiative to the rest of the army and the cham skinks stop the people who do this: from doing this: this: this: or worse this:

You should take some Saurus. Or a Slann.... NOT!! Jk jk jk.

Definitely a non-traditional list, that's for sure. If it were me I would split your Skroxyhorts into two units. Running the unit as a horde won't really give you any benefit in this case. I'd split it into:

28 Skinks with 3 Krox
18 Skinks with 2 Krox

With that you'll be much more maneuverable and just as effective. That is my preference though since I'm not a big fan of the horde in our army.

I'm a little confused by this entry:

Are you taking 2 Chiefs on 2 Stegs? Or one on a Steg and one as a BSB? Or are you trying to take 2 BSBs? Just not sure what you are going for here. Having the BSB on a Steggy is nice cause you get the 18" bubble. No complaints from that. Might want to get some gear on the Chiefs though, like the Egg or a some armor. Wouldn't hurt.

The Old Blood looks ok. You might be able to build him a little better since a Halberd costs significantly less that the Sword of Might does. You'll get the same benefit in my mind. That gives him some wiggle room for a cheap talisman or enchanted item.

Thanks for the advice I'll see about armour on the skink chiefs and the main logic behind The sword was to help fight ethereal units, the skink chiefs are both on stegs to A. to give the big bow BS 5 AND B. to give extra charge power. I have one BSB both skink Chiefs on stegs sorry 'bout that.

P.S The next army I'm facing is my Dad's Bretonnians OM NOM NOM!. Anyone else?

I just said that one of the two skink chiefs was my BSB and both Skink Chiefs were on Stegadons.
