Blog Models for the Model Throne! Paints for the Paint God!

20181007_115019_Burst01.jpg

This is the model that started my interest in Khrone. I love his pose. Such an epic beared mane. This is my first time working with reds. Most of my miniature painted has been on Nurgle or Deathguard.

Nice looking models, your right red can be a pain but I think you have a good understanding of how to shade and highlight it.

Tip: you can add more than one picture in each post, I think the limit is 8 depending on file size.

Thanks, I shall make use of this tip in future postings.

Red has been interesting to work with. Normally I pick my base color and then either shade or tint my paint from there with black or white. However you run into the pink paradox if you try this with red. I asked some of my club mates about it and one suggested orange. It worked fairly well.

Thanks, I will look more into those paints. I want to like Blood for the Blood God, but I don't really like the gloppy citadel tech paints. I need to figure out something that works to my tastes with it. Perhaps if I under paint mephiston/knorne red before I apply it. I have only really had success with B4BG when I use it over top flesh or inside wounds. On non organic materials it always comes out looking like strawberry jam for me.

Late to the party but very good work. Solidarity of those that don’t paint as much as they’d like to! I especially love the scarification on the back of the second model. Very realistic! And for basing, just add skulls til you think you have enough, then add one more. Works pretty well for me :p

I have plans to paint a Khorgorath to test skin techniques for Wrathmongers tomorrow. And if I paint swiftly enough finish at least one Wrathmonger as well. I will post pics sometime this weekend!
