8th Ed. Me VS ogre kingdoms

Right i'm going up against ogre kingdoms this weekend, 2k armies. I know nothing about ogre kingdoms, so i need help!

Tell me what i should watch out for and what is helpfull to win the battle.

Only thing i do know right now, is that i'm talking a slann and TGs. Was thinking about alot of skinkies for their poison attacks.

Please fellow Lizardmen enthusiasts, i need your help.

Do you know what Ogre Kingdoms models he has? Or will it be anything from the Army List as you allow proxies?
 
Okay, so if I was him, I would be bringing the following:

1 or 2 Ironblasters - I would sit back and take out your dinosaurs first with these, then try for the TG unit. Afterwards, I would use my superior movement to flank you and get the chariot impact hits from them.

I would have at least 2 units of 9 Ogres to get S6 impact hits and target your Saurus. I'd try to have a Stonehorn to contribute to this. Orge's basic movement is 6 so I'd run rings around the Saurus.

I'd have two small units of Leadbelchers to combat the Skink swarms.

Then I'd have a tooled up Level 4 Butcher leading one of the units and would buff the s**t out of my guys.

My strategy would be hang back while leadbelchers and cannons took their toll, then control the combat with the higher movement. If he was smart, he'd use cheap Gnoblars to prevent any Scouts from appearing next to his cannons.

If I was him, I wouldn't bring Mournfang Cavalry but this is a valid tactic against the Skinks since they have a high-armour save and could also be flankers.

That all said, I'd invest in at least two units of Chamo Skinks as I don't believe that he'll think to cover all of his deployment area and will leave gaps that you can exploit to take out the Cannons.

I'd take at least 4-6 ten-strong Skink Skirmishers (for the additional -1 to hit and to be able to march and fire with no penalty) and use them to take out the expected Leadbelchers or (if he has gone monster heavy) to attack and wound the Stonehorn/Thundertusk.

I'd suggest taking two units of 4 Kroxigor. Use them either to neutralize the Mournfangs (don't let them get the charge!!!! each one gets D3 impact hits!!!) or as flank chargers. They will also do pretty well against the Stonehorn/Thundertusk as they excel in taking down big monsters.

Then have two strong Saurus and Temple Guard units to be the anvils for his Ogre units.

If he has any tactics that he seems to favour (blitzkreig, etc.) then let me know and I'll tell you what I think he'd do with them.
 
First off all thx for the input

Now it is his first time playing ogres, so hopefully he will not have decent tactical plan.

Does your opponent favour any kind of style? This may tell us what he is planning to bring...
 
Going to write the armylist out today. But got a quick question first, what Lore should i use against ogre kingdoms? Just use high magic?

Probably safest as you don't know what he's bringing. I'd want the movement spell from High Magic anyways and you can always switch out spells.
 
Okay, thought so . Even thinking about taking a skink cohort with some kroxies... I'm afraid my saurus warriors can't handle ogres

Up to you, but the Skrox unit will fall far faster than the Saurus one. If he's not stupid, then he'll attack the Kroxigor first, kill them and then your skinks will do basically no damage. Or he'll just concentrate his attacks on the Skinks and win by total wounds caused...

I think take Saurus Sword&Board for the parry save and have small units of Krox (like a unit of 4) to do flank attacks. As they are Monstrous Infantry the second rank gets all three attacks and he won't be able to do supporting attacks as it's on the side.
