8th Ed. Mazdamundis Command Revealed *SPOILER ALERT*

Thanks. Is it possible to take grave guards with with +1 To Hit banner and a TK lord with My Will Be Done to have WS6 and thus hit on 2+ against most units in the game?

I picked up the book and magic cards this morning (I got the only deck this particular store received in their order). Unfortunately I have not had time to read any of it due to my sons birthday being today. :D

So how does it work, you have to play with Undead Legions to be able to apply the changes to Tomb Kings (marching and healing), right? But you can just play with a full Tomb Kings list and say it's an Undead Legions list? And I read that the death of the Hierophant or the Vampire General doesn't cause Crumble anymore, is this only when fielding Nagash?

All changes to the Undead rules apply to Undead Legions only. If you are playing with the TK or VC books only, then use the rules in those books.

However...

If you did a TK list that was exactly like your old TK list other than dropping the few Special Characters that are not also part of the UL list, then you have a legal UL list and you would be foolish to call it a TK list. Just call it UL and you get all the new benefits.

None of the rules require Nagash to be in your army for them to take effect.

my gaming group is argueing and calling it "just a tool box" ..and "not a real army on level with the others"..."wont be accepted into tournaments" . ...

They have the book so I really cant argue...gotta get it I guess.
.....unless SOMEONE IN PARTICULAR would be so VERY KIND to transcribe what is said regarding Legion being a standalone army :D ?

As a TK player what's your opinion about these changes? I'm not super familiar with the TK book, but we all know it's currently a rather weak army. So was the new book what they needed?._.

Pinktaco, if you go to the Tomb Kings forum, there are a multitude of topics about "how to make TK more competitive" or "what changes would you make to get our army to shine" and so forth. In almost all of them, the main changes that was wished were ability to march, ability to have Stand and Shoot reaction with the army, ability to heal the constructs more than one Wound per Magic Phase and a way to use the Battle Standard Bearer and Steadfast rules more efficiently like the other armies can. After those come all kinds of points adjustments and better synergy without magic / less dependency on magic.

Out those, the End of Times apparently gives the ability to march within 12" of the General, more efficient healing of the constructs (one Wound per spell) and removes the Hierophant tax (so your highest mage doesn't have to have the Lore of Nehekhara AND your army doesn't start to crumble after your Hierophant dies). Sledoba started a thread in the TK Tactics forum describing all kinds of tactical maneuvers you can now utilize.

So, in short, yeah, it made significant changes and improved the TK army a lot, and with these you can go a long way, but it's doubtful that it makes pure TK lists any kind of tournament powerhouse.

Mazdamundis command to me sounds like the things the mayans pulled in the real world, where thay just dissapeared from their temple cities because of some pofecy, never to be seen again....

plus it sound lika mazdamundi is going to let krog qar die in battle...i really hope here will be an upside...

Mazdamundi letting Kroq Gar die? Have i missed something? :D

All i have read so far is his command concerning the exodus....

An Exodus doesn't sound right. Why abandon such a heavily fortified area?

Exodus from where though? Are they leaving Lustria, the continent or the planet?

As I have gethered from various rumors it goes like this - krog gar is beseged by deamons and is asking for reinforcments...just as the mazdamundis attendants are about to issue the order because he is in trannce, butt in that momment mazdamundi awakens and utters the dreaded words...

I have the book. It is the first full page of story in the book. Here's the rundown:

Tekto, Speaker of Hexoatl's sacred council, is the skink priest summoned telepathically by Lord Mazdamundi. High Scalechief Inqala is a skink chief who reports Kroq-Gar's situation. Kroq-Gar is requesting reinforcement by the Thunderscale Cohort, Xahutec's foremost guardians. Apparently, this unit doesn't leave the city for battle except in dire circumstances. Tekto is about to grant permission when Mazdamundi awakens from his trance and stops the command.

Tekto receives a ton of telepathic images of The End Times which quickly fade and just leave him with a sense of terror. The images seem to indicate Lustria's jungles/temple cities being destroyed, rise of Skaven, High/Dark Elves battling, human cities being devoured by vines and trees, the cursed moon in the sky, and the dark ones laughing.

Tekto and Inqala debate the comet and Tehenhauin declaring it a sign of Sotek. Lord Mazdamundi interrupts them with the command. Mazdamundi's exact words are "The Great Plan has failed. The Exodus must begin."

I haven't read the whole book yet, but this is the only LM stuff so far...

Why would they abandon lustria if not for leaving the planet?

Okay..

Kroq-Gar is Mazdamundis favored champion, and the higest ranking saurus.
If the great plan is void
if the highest ranking warrior in the entire army is deemed a necessary casualty
I dont really think that anything can get too radical.

I really hope this isn't GWs way of wiping LM from the game.....

I mean really? The great plan failed, time to go? That's so unepic.....the LM should be going down fighting not turn tail and running. I mean sure the great Exodus COULD mean they're simply evacuating Lustria but to go where? I'm not sure I like the sound of this. Dosent bode well for the LM. Maybe someone will get a vision to change the opinion or Kroak will intervene and change things. I was hoping a change in Lore would have the LM being more proactive in the fight against chaos.

Maybe they will teleport to the south lands and just leave Lustria to burn, still seems very un Lizardmen like.

I don't know what is going to happen... But I'm scared for our army.

I am also.

Best bet I think is that someone resurrects Kroak and whoops butt again

I do not think, Mazdamundi plans to leave the world or the jungle. After all, there are hints in our book, that "the battle for dominion over the world was begun" (the fluff part on the entry for Mazdamundi himself).
So the Exodus could mean, that the armys of Lustria march to war against....everyone?
