Blog Marcus' painting log 2023

I also painted Xenophon 3 different ways.

The first was in a traditional Greek paint job. I made the accent color red so I could use him in the guild if I wanted to, down the road.

The second was a metallic gunmetal washed with nazdreg contrast, and then a few different blues for the eyes. I've thought about an army of living statues for awhile, and I may take that on. Either that or I'll figure out another place to put him.

The third was a mixture of Vallejo gold tones washed with skeleton horde after the fact. This guy is going on top of a Grecian pillar of some sort, which will be in the center of a large base. The rest of the base will be tributes to my upcoming opponent armies during a slow-grow age of sigmar league.

Nice Xenophon model, which company makes him?

Hobby plans notes 01-27-2023.

I spent Thursday mainly working on Mcdougall Designs matters, including contract work.

For personal time I decided to tackle more sprue clean up. I'm going to have to do this for several days in a row to get where I want to be before moving on.

That said:

I have more commission items from Kevin to finish.

I have to consolidate my bits box After reaching my phase 1 complete on the sprue clean out.

I have to consolidate WIP boxes. The Guild Myrmidian has something like 4 where I really only need 2.

Stormcast for the upcoming slow grow league. I need to bang out something like 15 stormcast, which should take 1 day of painting.

Notes for the whole weekend really:

Been in a weird funk.

My planned last push of the month for the commission items did not materialize, and now they are on the back burner until my starter force for the slow grow league is painted.

I did get the guild myrmidian boxes consolidated down. A little more work to go on that.

So for the next week or so it's going to be stormcast, other random on the desk as distraction nullification bumpers, and continued work on clearing sprues.

At least on personal time.

Also, I put these guys on MDF bases.

Primed those, a Lord imperatant and a knight judicator

Plans for today:

Clear one section of remaining sprue piles

Build remaining unbuilt stormcast.

There is a meeting I have to attend starting at 4:30, so I don't know how much of these I will get done between this and work. We'll see

Absolutely nothing. Although I did get a product launch done instead, so better things?

Anyway, I'm still awake and working towards progress on all fronts

Built the remaining 5 vindictors for Saturday. Bases shortly, then on to painting.

While working on actual work, I also made progress towards project sprue-geddon.

I also threw a random selection of pieces together and created some gangly armed butcher.

Started up again, did a few steps. Used up accidental over-squeeze of boltgun metallic on vindictors shields. Giving the brushes and my back a small break.

PXL_20230203_113142879~2.jpg 5 judicators and 5 sequitors painted but needing basing.

Break time, then starting in earnest on the 10 vindictors.

After them, I have a Lord imperatant and gryph-hound to finish out my 750 pt force.

11 stormcast and one beak-having good-boi on the painting desk. Thoughts on pelt color for the gryph hound?

Here's my finished 750 pt list for the escalation campaign I'm running.

It's been good to play around with my Aurelian blades stormhost again. I love this paint scheme. I'm excited to paint and expand the collection.

Painted over 3 and a half days, roughly. A few hours here, a few hours there.

Vindictors were the only thing I needed to build up from sprues. Everything else has been sitting unpainted for a while.

More to come as the league progresses.

That is a beautiful shade of purple. And the dude with the giant bow is fantastic, does he come as a single unit or in a box set?

its the Knight Judicator.
