Couple of things for next time

1. Always relayer with the base colour after the shade but just leave the deepest recess untouched.
2. Try to use a mid colour before your highlight to help blend the colours.

In your example you have gone from shade to highlight in one step which gives a stark contrast, although acceptable for table top you can improve it.

Not a bad first attempt on the whole ;)
 
Yep, the contrast is a bit stark.
Perhaps also thin the colors a tiny bit more.

Not bad for a first try though, I highlight skin solely by drybrushing because I suck so much doing this technique. :D
 
@NIGHTBRINGER will be happy to know that I played my first two games of age of Sigmar tonight and lost both of them. he will also be happy to know that even though I did lose I killed some pansy fish elves.

So, how did you like the game (despite losing which is normal for newcomers)?
Ok for a quick game now or then?

And of course you don't have quite enough stuff to get into the deeper tactical questions but I think small games are best to just learn the game, even though they play a bit differently to the larger ones.

I had quite a bit of fun, actually. I think I'll add it to the rotation
 
Looking good, I like the colour scheme - but I’d say if you can, the red needs to be broken up (maybe change the colour of the head/faces)

And as said above - white is hard to pull off, maybe go for a metallic colour or something darker?
Also if you are feeling brave, maybe freehand a little something on the armour/shields ?
