So there is an old but gold thread by Lachlin: Make me a list that will lose me friends

Since that discussion a lot has changed - GHB 2017 has come out, meta has shifted, additional armies got their battletomes, etc.

How has the Lustrian cheese aged over the year? What is the nastiest list we can build? How can we best utilize the allegiance teleportation? Can our slaans finally be used in a competitive environment? Who are our best allies if we want to maintain our cold-blooded allegiance?

To kick off I'll refer to InfabousBeany's 1k point list with updated Bastiladon points values (40 leftover points could be spent on a razordon, salamander, gryphound, etc.):

Are we talking powerful lists or cheese lists? Kroaknado is both, certainly. That Eternal Kroaknado list from Las Vegas looked like a different take on the archetype than watson's usual plan, but maybe equally powerful.

How about this list, it's probably not that good, but it could certainly lose you friends.

260 Slann Starmaster (double teleport)
200 Skink Starseer
80 Skink Priest
80 Skink Starpriest
200 - 40 Skinks
200 - 40 Skinks
200 - 40 Skinks
280 Bastilodon
280 Bastilodon
200 Heavenswatch Starhost

You could teleport 80 skinks and make a ring around your opp's entire army. You could teleport two buffed Bastilodons onto objectives and just sit there while fidgeting with the movement phase on the 120 little guys. The friend losing possibilities are endless.

I guess it depends on WHY you would lose friends
- losing friends because your list is cheese --> Kroaknado
- losing friends because your list is strong --> Kroaknado, Thunderquake, Sunclaw
- losing friends because your friends are idiots --> Any list.

About that list of yours @Lhurgoyf : Meh. Loads of Skinks is annoying for some armies but not too scary/cheesy IMO. Any shooting army will decimate those Skinks pretty quickly, and many armies can move around the board just as well so not getting tied up by them.

That list is almost exactly what I am buying and building towards - except with Shadowstrike instead of Heavenswatch for some alpha strike cheese. I thought it was going to be good though. Hm.

Also... the linked lists are useful but it never ceases to amaze me how little effort is put into lists for massive grand tournaments. I would make sure mine was perfect and formatted beautifully, whereas these are all "saugus guard 100" and "dispel scroll skink priest 80". FFS

Don't worry, being effective is not binary. A list is rarely good against everything or bad against everything.
Go for it, all that stuff is useful. You can then make adjustments based on your local meta and experiences.

Kroak, an Astrolith Bearer, and a Balewind Vortex are 710 points.
Fill up with two battleline units and anything else.

I noticed that but thought it was more the way it comes across when read, which is more likely as you constantly help new players with lists.

Yeah I didn't really intend to make it sound rude, rather like an encouragement to work on list building since it is fun to play around with the warscroll builder.
But when I read it today I noticed that written language doesn't quite convey it the way I would like it to.

It' all good just I knew the two things aka kroak and vortex but not the other bits
