7th Ed. Magic Roundup Part 2 - Direct Damage Spells

Wow turns out everyone missed it and you will have to modify the tactica a bit.. Pretty stupidly placed and not very obvious if you ask me, but here is the ruling straight from the 7th ed BRB page 107, under the 'Casting Spells' heading on the 6th paragraph:

Wizards cannot cast spells at units engaged in combat, unless the spell only effects the caster himself or the spell's description specifies otherwise

That sure shakes up the way my gaming group has been playing.. You were correct Celticfire.

Good call on that, so looks like I'll have to sweep through and reevaluate some of the spells. I think the radial damage spells all hit models in close combat... but I will have to check those too.

*bows* thank you, thank you.

i actually brought this one to my store owner. this guy was the one who set me straight.

I love you, Strewart.
This I will bring to my friend who insisted that he could cast 'Gork's warpath' on my Temple gaurd unit in combat.

Cheers!

Ay very tempting, and definitely worth considering for the future, but I am not a fan of huge sigs and even now mine is larger than I normally make them. They just end up cluttering every page with lots of space that isn't related to the thread. As an admin I have to set a good example and draw the line somewhere. :P

Ach, you're making me feel like a bad person... but from my experiences setting a good example has always backfired...
