so i was looking through the new spells once the new book came out and i fell in love with the transformation of kadon from teh lore of beats. the spell is amazing, and with a 24+ casting value it won't be easy to dispell in following turn either. just throw a bunch on dice at and you get an awesome monster.
the problem is that our frog can't use it for some retarded reason so i was looking for a new army to play it arround that spell. something that can use the lore of beasts and can work well together with a big monster... or 2.

my question is: what army would be best suited for this purpose. i'm not looking for a sure thing that wins everytime ofcourse, i'm looking for something fun to play.

any ideas?

I would say High Elves or Dark Elves. You could try it out on a Vampire Counts army, but I don't think it would be as successful.

Also, if you look at the Battle Report in the new Rulebook (Two Skaven armies, Bretts, and Wood Elves) a Wood Elf player uses it so basically.. Any Elves ;)

And where does it say that the Slann can't use it?

The new lizardmen FAQ states the Slann can not cast the spell.

A little confused.. If you are going to start a new army just to get a spell to turn your wizard into a dragon, why not just use an army that can already take a dragon and buy it? Then it cannot get dispelled.

I'd probably go with elves or Empire though if you did want to take it. Maybe VC, a vamp can take forbidden lore, then if it does happen to get dispelled while you are in combat they are still facing a vampire lord rather than a soft mage.

Thanks :) I KNEW it wasn't in the actual rulebook! :D

i'm not looking for something resonable ofcourse, but HE might be fun to take some dragons from the book and add an extra one through the spell. DE can't use it unfortunately, not that i like them all that much.

i actually have to check HE's for prices, thx for the feedback

High Elves are going to be in the starter set out in sep, and the models are looking awesome, also they are getting a wave of new models in october which look great. I run Defenders of Ulthuan, which is a decent HE forum. ;) Though I must say, to be honest HE might not suit your needs. Unless you already like their models. A Prince on Dragon is great, but not as powerful now with stepping up, steadfast, and the dragon unable to negate ranks from the flank. It is also very expensive and won't really leave you the points for the also expensive archmage to ensure you can turn him into a dragon. Depends on what sort of army you are looking to play. One option may be the dragon mage, which is a hero choice, and will give you a dragon and leave space for an archmage to take beasts.

Where are the new models for High Elves posted at Strewart?

The Island of Blood minis can be seen on GW's "A Blog of Two Gamers" blog. As far as I know, there aren't any pictures of the models set to be released in October yet. Although, there is speculation on which models will be released:

This October is devoted to the scions of Asuryan, as we release a series of new High Elf miniatures.

The High Elves are the noblest of races, the remnant of a once-mighty civilisation that spanned the globe. The titanic destruction unleashed by the Daemons of Chaos and the monstrous betrayal of the Dark Elves left their nation a shadow of its former might and glory, and yet the High Elves fight on. For millennia they have stood sentinel against the depredations of Chaos, thwarting the machinations of the Dark Gods over and again, and though their population has dwindled, the skill and determination of their armies remains steadfast.

In battle, the armies of the High Elves are a glorious sight to behold. Ranks of elite soldiers clad in unspotted white and glittering silver stand against the dark tide of the Forces of Destruction. With a mystical grace and agility that is incomparable to the lumpen, slothful gestures of lesser mortals, they cleave through the foe with spear and blade - their skill and speed a match for any foe. Volleys of white-fletched arrows are sent slashing into the foe, accompanied by the heavier, deadlier shots of the Eagle Claw Bolt Throwers, which can punch through even the thickest armour. Powerful High Elf Mages direct the ebb and flow of the Winds of Magic to smite the foe with incandescent flames, or protect their allies with the dazzling power of Asuryan, the king of the Elven gods.

For more information about the High Elf releases in October, watch out for future newsletters, keep an on the Games Workshop website and check out October's issue of White Dwarf.

Apparently, they're also getting plastic Dragon princes, plastic White Lions and plastic Phoenix Guards as well as at least one metal blister of a Noble. Apparently there are 3 other things to add to that list but we dont have any other info yet

Here are the first pics posted. Asrodrig is correct that there are now Eavy Metal painted pics on the GW blog, which make the models look even more spectacular.

And yeah no photos of the october releases yet unfortunately...

i was thinking prince on dragon, dragonmage and a lvl 1 wizard with the choose your own spells item to get the transformation and throw 6 dice at it. i do realise its a suicidal list and it doesn't stand a chance against much, but i'd ike to try it out. probably just gonna borrow a friends HE and proxy teh dragons to see how it plays out. don't really have that kind of money right now
