Hi there. Im new to lizardmen and I don't know weather to go for a army based around lord kroak (or just a slann) or Kroq-gar. What do you think.
Thanks.

(sorry If this is in the wrong place.)

unless you get a 4000 army just get a slann here is what i would do
Slann mage priest light
Focus of mystery
Becalming cogitation
BSB
Cupped hands of the old ones
if you do want a kg like thing get an oldblood on a carn

Unless you are doing pure friendly or fluffy games, avoid all of our special characters.

their abilities aren't that bad,
but they just cost too much overall
or you can make a similar generic hero
for a lot less.

That being said, I do use the occasional special character.

Kroak and kroq-gar can both make for a fun and original army.
for a Kroak I would go for a mostly Saurus infantry army,
for kroq-gar you would obviously take advantage of the Calvary core,
and make a fast hard hitting army with a cold ones, carnasaurs and stegadons.

If you are new to warhammer alltogether and want to know what to go for when you start up your very first army then i would agree with vapor and stay far away from the special characters. They are simply not good enough to use when you start playing. Instead buy an old-blood and a skink priest, or a slann. The OB+Priest is good for low points games (up untill 1300, give or take) while the slann is the obvious and best choice of characters for all games above 1500 points. For a beginner I would strongly advice against investing in any special characters.

Also what is good for playing bret.
I've had good luck with both saurus and skrox (mixed skink and kroxigor) units, as well as salamanders. Depending on the points level temple guard with the armor piercing banner are also a great investment.

to me it seems like lore of life when you're using a slann with focus of mystery is really good, but im still really new to the game (but i love my lizzies)

I always thought an Old Blood on a Carnosaur would be great.

whether you like kroq-gar's rules/cost or not he makes a awesome model on the carnosaur :beaver:

Actually i preffer my own converted OB carnorider.
And for people who do like to use the actual model, you're better off using him as a regular carnoblood.
