8th Ed. Looking for advice, 1500 point list for a local tournament.

I have most of my list figured out, but I need some help outfitting my army for battle against WoC. Here is what I have so far.

Lords:

Slaan Mage-Priest:
Focus of mystery
Banner of Eternal Flame

Heroes:

Saurus Scar-Vet:
Light Armour
Shield
Carnosaur
Blood Roar
Sacred Stegadon Helm of Itza

Core:

Skink Skirmishers:
10 man squad

Skink Skirmishers:
10 man squad

Saurus Worriors:
20 Man squad
Musician
Standerd Bearer

Special:
Temple Guard:
18 man squad

Bastiladon:
Solar Engine and 3 Skink Crew

Total: 1,502 Points

So What do you think I should add or take out?

So far great list mate, first off, that scar-vet on carnosaur is going to take up way too many points for a 1500 point game, slann is a great choice especially with focus of mystery and banner of eternal flame is always a good choice.
Possibly swap out scar-vet on carno to a scar vet with BSB light armour, shield and to fill the magic maybe helm of itza or if you get rid of light armour give him armour of destiny which will give him a 4+ Ward and a 2+ armour all for 161 points!

Troops are solid maybe another saurus blob just to throw more bodies into the frey. (you might wana add some skink priests or chiefs to keep them in check)

Special i can't complain the solar engine is boss, but against WoC he will get ripped in combat definetely field him behind all of your troops so he remains alive. You might want some ripperdactyls i havent ever stop fielding them they are that good

BUT you might want to take a salmander as they rip groups of infantry to shreds apart from WoC have all them good saves so you might not want to take them.

Thanks for your input on the list. Do you think I should go with a skink priest or a skink chief on a ripperdactyl for my heroes in addition to the scar vet. Also do you have any tactics that might help me? I know the main thing I have to worry about in my opponents list is a Hellcannon and a chaos sorcerer lord, so is there any way to counter that?
P.S I do not own any salamander models right now so that idea is out.

Have you paid points for the BSB upgrade for your Slann? I notice he has a magic standard.

I'd lose the Carnosaur. What are your Skinks equipped with? And are you just using this list for WoC or will it have to fight other opponents too?

+2 TG so you've got 6x4 with the Slann.

I am going to lose the Carnosaur and replace him with a Scar vet. Also my skinks are upgraded with blowpipes and hand weapons. Finally this list is going to be strictly for WoC currently.

if you are going to take the ripperdactyls definitely put a skink priest on one just so you can have a wider field of magic but if you want more bang when in combat bring a chief. The hellcannon is a BIG poblem but an answer or two is ripperdactyls to move up really quickly charge mane kill , you know... Cold ones woul be devastating but would definitely be targeted. the good way to deal with the cannon is actually your skinks with blowpipes as poison would rip it down super quick. i know its expensive but have you considered another solar engine (you wont regret it trust me)

Tactics: YOU WILL DESTROY MAGIC FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER i know its only WoC but still stubbing the little magic they have will make your magic phase scarily dangerous. Ripperdactyls to deal with hell cannon stick the two skink priests with the Saurus blobs and dispell everything. Stick the Saurus blobs upfront with the templeguard and slann in the middle blobs on the flanks of them. Bastilidon STAYS behind and fires at their big blobs to makes it easier for you big blobs to take them down.

any type of fighting unit WOC has will destroy saurus and temple guard.

I absolutely would bring skinks. skirmishers are the answer to every problem.

if he's running monstrous infantry then carno d3 wounds is actually really good.

rippers wont do much against WoC I feel. They are going to strike last against most things in the WoC list and they will die.

rippers arent' the answer. good I and WS will make sure 3 rippers aren't fighting back, or if they do its with 1 model.

double scroll, level 4 and two level 1's is magic overkill, especially against WoC.
